and it has been proven to be a poor decision, short term at least.
Rest assured the architects of this mess have already been handsomely rewarded for short term thinking, is the Strayan way after all. IR cannot relinquish control, HR is bolted on. The modern corporation, university and even most of the airlines suffer the same curse.

Improve reliability, but there will be freed up capacity at the same time, on the 717? So who gets the “unreliable” 717 capacity then? I’m calling this QF BS spin!
Unfortunately around 30% of the workforce has vanished and the existing flights cannot be crewed let alone any extra.

And Mackay as well.
Interesting read given the current circumstances:-

Just heard that a “great way” for management to stem the flow of exiting pilots is to threaten their career progression and decree that Mainline wont be takig any more 717 pilots until their own crew shortage is sorted! 😣
Hope its only a rumour but wow! Way to go.... more than one game in town ladies/gents
(And IR wonder why engagment surverys are the way they are)

Job security, money, lifestyle, great equipment, amazing training department, almost 100 Year’s of operational excellence, amazing FO’s and Cabin Crew, whole departments to back me up - Flt planners, Met, ops and maint watch....
Need I go on?
Need I go on?
Don’t most other places have all that as well?

Airlines are the best of team sports.
For many pilots structural shortages are apparent all over the industry. This adversarial conduct of management was predicated on unlimited supply. This has nothing to do with support of operational functions but everything to do with a career path and all that entails. To a Cobham pilot commuting contracts where the skill set is remunerated correctly and perhaps even a modicum of respect for your professional skill set may be something that finally allows them to leave.
The amount of Pilots applying and aspiring for a Career in QF presently indicates that QF must have something extra going for it.
I’ve been flying with FO’s back from the sandpit of late and it’s amazing how the grass is always greener on the other side, everyone of them has said they now appreciate what they’ve got with QF more than ever.
No worries, if you don’t want a job with QF, go somewhere else.
Ps: I enjoy reading your well constructed and thoughtful posts Rated De

From my connections there, both inside and out aviation, one, no matter what their field is merely a 'guest worker'. Perhaps the Cobham pilots feel this way too and given the opportunities presenting are quietly removing themselves from the toxicity of QF adversarial Ir.

Any current or past Cobham 717 pilots care to comment on work conditions? Interviews are happening for the 717 right now and I'm thinking about applying. For example, do Cobham pilots get NO travel benefits (ID90) at all? The EBA is currently under renegotiation. Any ideas what the main points of contention that the current pilots would like to see improved are?
