Pionair to operate Virgin Cargo BAe146's
Yeah but how many 146 drivers, who aren't already employed as 146 drivers, want to fly a 146 on night freight?
Probably a few in the West who would like to move East?

Yep they are. So they're not going to be jumping ship anytime soon unless they think they're in danger of being pushed and I think Cobham may have sucked up any local 146 experience in the past couple of years.

So isn't one of those 146-200's a QC ?
If so, with most freight being moved Mon-Thu evenings, will that mean they will offer aircraft for passenger charter Fri-Sun ?
Wonder if a 146-200 with approx. 84 seats would be cheaper than an 80 seater F70 to charter ?
If so, they could be on a winner, as huge demand for such on Fri & Sun's.

How can Ansett justify 35.5k for a 146 endorsement on a very old depreciated sim? The cost of a course is usually, in a big part, driven by the usage costs for the sim. The newer the sim the more expensive it is and the more it costs to use it.
The 146 sim is old and been paid for about 100 times over so how they can charge an over the top amount is beyond me, the coursework IP costs shouldn't be too excessive.

I think you may be misunderstanding their (Ansett Aviation Training's) business model. Training revenue forms the vast majority of their income - that's the basis for their business. They can charge whatever they think will maximise their profit - nothing wrong with it, they are not giving charity. If the market deems their rate too high, they will go elsewhere. The fact that there is no simple 'elsewhere' for a 146 rating on a CASA license is probably justification enough for what may seem like a high price.
