To clarify...

No. Just Longhaul.
is for pilots, and there was a Short Haul Cabin Crew EBA voted down (approximately 65% NO, 35% YES) just yesterday.

And I'd love to get a hold of the email that management sent the short haul FA's. Apparently it's a very emotive hissy fit that is also not very well written.

Back to the topic now, I've heard that there is a FA manager (I don't know who exactly, as there are so many) that is working on the B787-900 implementation.

rammel,

That would make sense wouldn't it? I know they love to cut and cut, but I think we will still be carrying cabin crew on the 789.

Thumbs up

There are bucket loads of people working on the 787-900 intro. Cabin layout, galley layout, technical, engineering, networks, etc. Everyone is doing ground work. The only thing they're waiting for is the official 'go' (or potentially 'stop') decision to be formally made.

Years ago I used to organise large scale activities for the Air Force cadets. A lot of preliminary and preparatory work occurred before the boss would sign off on what was to occur. So much so that most of the rest of it was imply managing implementation. Like the lock out, this is not different. Planning is happening, the actual decision to formally launch is still yet to be made.

Yes, re-reading it I'm pretty sure there will be more than one Flight Attendant manager on the 789, maybe even two.

Apparently one of the sticking points on the SH Flight Attendant EBA is that the company wants to be able to roster East Coast to Perth return trips.

Not in brisbane they don't.
They lost the brisbane crew on that alone.
Didn't help that the faaa rep up there was pushing it when they live in Bali.
Their number of commutes trips would have been reduced considerably. Conflict of interest didn't help at all!
The other states didn't want the bonus. They want the annual increases instead.

82% yes vote to EBA won't do any harm.

Lucky guess (within the statistical margin for error)

Should have stuck with my original prediction on 7 Jun of 85%. I let the noise of qrewroom get to me.

PSN much harder to call.

My guess on PSN:

F/O & S/O ranks on all fleets will vote for PSN, Capt A330 - For, Capt A380 - Against and Capt B747 - Marginally Against.

I'm very pleased with the EA vote as it shows the huge majority of pilots can separate the wheat from the chaff.

I'll bet London to a brick that NO rank will entertain rotating seniority.

Pilots generally only think of themselves and where they are now. Too many have said to me that they will not vote for it in their current rank as they are senior but they would vote for it in future ranks. Unfortunately, that is not the vote.

I will be very surprised if it arises on any fleet other than a potential new type.

I'll take that bet.

It will be in for all ranks except CAPT 380/744 and possibly 380 F/O.

I think you are placing too much faith in your perception of what people think.

Why would anyone in the top 50% vote for it? There is little gain for them.

Why would anyone in the next 10% vote for it as they will be moving up soonish if there are promotions with a new type and therefore little gain for them.

That's 60%.

I would be very surprised if Is Don's prediction comes true. And it is true that not everyone is senior, but not enough are junior.

I'm in the top 50%. I'm voting for it.

That said, I know a few blokes in the bottom 50% who will vote No to PSN.
