New Airwork NZ B737-400 Frieghters

Have to admit I haven’t really been keeping up with all the goings on in the freightworld, but does anyone know where these are headed?

Folks,
I wonder why only 11 pallets. With a bit of re-engineering down the far end, you can do better than 11.

The reason why they only went for 11 is they need the payload for fuel to go transcon west bound. The step up from the 300 to the 400 will do Toll for now. There were other options but this was the easiest and cheapest.

Considering one 737 had a main gear collapse and another went offshore, thats two down and perhaps redundancy hence the new order?

As part of Airwork’s fixed wing dry lease expansion plan, it has recently committed to purchasing six B737-400 sister ship aircraft from a major international airline to add to the one aircraft it previously acquired.
Does anyone know which airline the aircraft were purchased from?

Folks,
There are a number of very good common specification -400 about, low cycles and hours, and asking a lot less money than ex-QF aircraft.
The -400 makes a very good freighter, commercially leaves the -300 in the dust.
Cargo conversions, Boeing supported, are available with about a 4 month lead time, and a fixed and very competitive price.

All 6, ex Qantas aircraft.
Which will at least help them achieve some commonality in the fleet.
