What is going on with CASA's Av Med Dept. They are looking for every reason to keep pilots grounded medically with this silly bulldog approach!
Wouldnt it be more benificial to clear pilots promptly once the experts have deemed them fitAnd just for the record it has nothing to do with me personally,I have just witnessed collegues go through unnessesary grief and it seems to be on the increase.

A game called The Weakest Link

Halfdutch halfbiscuit, GH was never a contender for the next DAS my brother. Team Albo realised their mistake soon after appointing Skull, when he started letting the emotions out of the bag, namely temper temper.
They decided to line up a potential replacement who had a silver tongue and knew the bureaucratic game and how to play it - The Doctor. Not even the other grey nomad Tezza was going to jag the top DAS role, not a permanent basis anyway.
GH would run rings (pardon the pun) around the other 3 Methusalah's however he has never flown the big tin, so it was never going to happen.
The era of Cathay boys will come to an end, all bad things do. Then it will be a new DAS and depending on which airline he flew for will pretty much determine who the new Execs will be. The same thing happened under Byron.

GH is the scapegoat for Norfolk, nothing more nothing less. Throw in some Barrier and Hardys action on top of that and you have what appears to be a 'robust and active' senior management group, during the Senate inquiry of course! It's all a game of tic tac toe, snake and ladders and smoke and mirrors. It's amazing how 'proactive' Fort Fumble seem to be every time the spotlight is shined upon them? Question is do the Senators have the power to do what needs to be done? Don't be fooled, they know the score, they see what the truth is and they are angling to make a kill, I just don't know yet whether they really have the power. Time will tell.

Departure Lounge

Has there been any formal announcement of Greg's resignation from CASA?

What is the AsA position he is going to and was it advertised?

Question is do the Senators have the power to do what needs to be done? …
No they don’t.
Don't be fooled, they know the score, they see what the truth is and they are angling to make a kill …
Yes, that’s true, but mainly for their own political interests and for concerns about their own safety.
I just don't know yet whether they really have the power. …
No they don’t.
Time will tell.
Yes it will, and the outcome will depend on matters directly relevant to aviation safety: what are the opinion polls saying; will it affect electoral fortunes; is it a slow news day …
The era of Cathay boys will come to an end, all bad things do.
TFFT, if it comes to pass.
Then it will be a new DAS and depending on which airline he flew for will pretty much determine who the new Execs will be.
I earnestly hope that, notwithstanding the base political interests that drive these decisions, neither side is stupid enough to appoint another f*cking airline pilot to the job.

FFS, put someone who knows what she’s doing in charge.

Creamie,
Even if the candidate has a significant legal background, like the present CEO/DAS??
Across the board in CASA, there are many employees seriously under-qualified, based on basic qualification, further training and experience, and on-the-job performance.
No person parachuted into the CASA top job without knowing how the public service system operates, particularly the Canberra version, is going to crack the "iron ring".
Tootle pip!!

Correct.

And it’s correct even if the candidate has a “significant legal background” (whatever that means).

So where did Mr McCormick obtain his law degree, and where was he admitted to practice?

Creamy, we are talking about CASA Executives here mate, so it probably came out of a box of Wheetbix. Most likely they all have the following on their CV's;
- PHD in Spin doctoring
- Diploma of Pony Poo
- Experience in malfeasance, smoke and mirrors, snakes and ladders and pineappling.
- Definitely no degree in people, business or project management
- Experience in self gratification, ego and greed
- Small genitalia

Now, for a perfect example, take Beaker from the ATSB. His CV consists of (my bolding);

Mr Dolan has worked as a Commonwealth public servant for 30 years. Prior to the ATSB, he was Chief Executive Officer of Comcare, with responsibility for the occupational health and safety and workers' compensation of Commonwealth employees.
From 2001-2005 he was Executive Director, Aviation and Airports at the Department of Transport and Regional Services, with responsibility for airport sales and regulation, aviation security, aviation safety policy and international aviation negotiations.
Previously, Mr Dolan had undertaken various corporate management roles in the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, including Chief Finance Officer and Head of Corporate Management. He started his public service career in 1980 with AusAid, managing aid projects in developing countries.

A career bureaucrat with what experience in aviation accident investigations and what experience in safety systems???? Exactly. I rest my case.

Notice to Senators - Once and for all, please get rid of these clowns. They are a drain on taxpayer funds, a drain on precious oxygen, and a skidmark on the name of Australian aviation.

When the large loud sock puppet is discarded, I hope in best of Dickensian tradition the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future come back to haunt in old age, along with incontinence and drooling.

As it's a fairly mellow sort of Sunday – the following may help during the waiting period.

Creamie,
As I understand the CV, the answer to the first question is a UK university ( U. of London?)
The second, he hasn't.

Then you and I appear to have a different conception of what constitutes a “significant legal background”.

I wouldn't describe a person who’s completed all the ATPL theory subjects as being someone with “significant airline transport background”

Creamie,
Actually, considering one CASA lawyer, who did his law degree and advanced degree later in life, I would have to agree with you.

Has Hood got the Wood?

MOIE # Senate 1051 –"And Hoody, dear Hoody, out to enjoy his final swan song before the Senators prior to joining ASA? Will his buddies truly sacrifice this lamb or will the Senators act the part of a loyal Shepherd and rescue him from the pack?"
I can't see where they would dare shaft the Hooded one; he knows where all the skeletons are buried. The odds in the scapegoat stakes are still being decided and the list of runners is not yet finalised, however for those who like a flutter; the latest ante post odds:-
  • Luckin Grima. 20/1
  • Pearly White. 4/1.
  • Chamber Pot. 5/2 (ante post favourite).
The sponsors will update the field and changing odds as information becomes available.

Sponsored by Gobbledock Knackery P/L; Golden West Pineapples Inc; and, The Honourable Guild of Toe cutters..

Kharon, some robust odds indeed, so many horses to choose from! But is there a long shot? Is there a horse that will bolt from behind to take out the GWM Cup?
It is certainly possible that the grima reaper will strike and take one of these elderly statesmen before their time. Perhaps the Styx Houseboat is about to set sale??

I can picture it now, Terry, Devo, The Doc, Adam, Herr Boyd, Sith Mrdak, Beaker all wearing pot plants on their head singing 'Working In A Coal Mine' while Big Chief Albanese plays the guitar!
Houseboat sailings temporarily suspended due to the crew rolling about the deck laughing – Then some fool posted the above; they found -
-now I can't stop the buggers singing and giggling. It's a tough life here on the Styx.

But it was sooooo funny.

Last edited by Kharon; 13th Feb 2013 at 03:47. Reason: Any coincidental likeness between the characters in this movie and real life personages are purely and robustly coincidental – so there.

dog forbid..

T28D Not the luverly Narrelle?
If its the Ms Tredrea you talk about..God forbid as well. Unfit for the job, in my book, and if we use the CASA vernacular.."Not a fit and proper..."

Last moniker I heard of "Senior Adviser-Compliance and Enforcement"
GEAOU..as the Vimy rego says.....God 'elp all of us.

As (mis) manager of a certain simple case/or case for simpletons, she couldnt even get the sequence of how you deal with an alleged reg. breach right. All you have to do is read the !!#@%%$!! Manual.
Not much of a qualification is it, being able to read English?

But there you go...snuffle snuffle in the trough and to hell with the 'protocols' if you have an agenda.
I feel sorry for the cat.
