Virgin Australia's plans for 2012
Quote:
JB has rumored upto 20 by next year...
20 what exactly? Because it won't be new aircraft. Oh I see 20 new orders, for delivery when? 2014\2015? Yep that International expansion announcement is right around the corner. Hope no-one's holding their breath.

It seems with the hoo-hah of QF shares diving people have so far missed this announcement on ASX. Etihad has aquired a 3.96% stake of VA over the past few weeks in an open market. About time.

Who cares, BBB? They're doing something right. Perhaps it has something to do with an engaged workforce?
Plus domestic is where the majority of revenue comes from. Hardly 777 the routes

Bbb, Bit different already having established routes like QF where the more efficient aircraft could make good coin, to trying to establish routes from scratch like VA would have to do.
Ofcourse that doesn't fit with the executive plan of transferring everything to J*...
Back on VAH, I see Etihad are up to 4.99%, looking for 10%.

the only announced expansion is with crapstar and with new metal as well if it ever arrives. Why a business would rely on the most competitive market sector with the lowest fares to fight a war is beyond me. Qantas once had a major competitive advantage being Qantas and this lot have thrown that out the door at every turn. If it had problems fix it and revitalise the brand as Singapore, Ethihad, Emirates and most others have done in their own unique way.
The Rat had it all and and didn't use its best capability, its staff but chose to fight in the gutter except in relation to executive pay.

So is the 787, while it was here in MEL, they had a big push to VA
Virgin knows what qantas know knows. Australia is not well suited geographically or ecconomically (against national run airlines) to be a major long haul player. That's why JB has picked the best alliances he can. ( singapore, delta and ethiad) they will do that. Any place in the world with one stop. The future will be Asia for virgin international expansion and it won't be the 787.!
(and Singapore and ethiad both have 350 orders and ethiad just cancelled another 7 opening up those slots) mmmm I wonder.

SS, if you knew anything you would see that VS's loads are low on the HKG-SYD-HKG, and they are pushing for VA to do the run with the link up in HKG, there is also a push for PVG.
As you said the other obvious one is to SIN but it won't be through CNS, seriously? JB is pushing for business orientated routes, like PER-SIN to link up with ETD And SIA. IMO the first stage of any expansion will be out if SYD.

Further to my earlier A350 remark I would like to add the following.
Expect an announcement later this year for further A330's, at least another 6. At the same time A350's will be announced to replace the 777's from late 2014 or early 2015. The announcement could be at the same time the full year report is released.
Looking further ahead at the future narrowbody fleet hot tip is A320/A321 NEO's to replace the 737's from 2017 or 2018. A319's or the C300 to replace the Ejets.

737's here to stay for the foreseeable future, 777's as well A350's in 2 years? Not likely. JB is way too smart to buy the A model of anything, especially after the Airbus track record of model introduction. 2017/18 or after, maybe....... Even then, the offer would have to be outstanding.
