Thanks Ratpin.......I almost choked on my Fruit Loops this morning when I read this :
This spokes-"person" is THE MOUTHPIECE for the "enemy". Just YouTube a few of her most recent media "interviews" (skip Channel 7's )
She pretends she cares about Qantas and its reputation and being a "good employer". She would be on the phone 30 seconds before the interview and immediately after getting instructions from the bunker.
They are feeding her this stuff and using her -WHY ?
1. Their CEO cannot string an intelligible sentence together.-FACT
2. Their Chairman cannot string a sentence together without - giving the look that all Unionist's are scum-ratbags.-FACT
3. The public perception of having a Qantas "weather girl" do their talking is tactically savvy. A typical conversation over the laminex kitchen table may sound like this......"Oh dear me Mildred -isn't Olivia a nice girl -wasn't she in Grease with that other Qantas bloke"
I reckon this little charade is over. More and more now.... the media are seeing through this sham. Everyday there is a piece in the main stream media.
Slow & Steady, Inch by Inch .................
In all fairness,it is probably about time the the ball was played and not the man(or in this case the woman). If it was not OW it would be somebody else.
It does the cause no good in my opinion to be constantly criticizing the mouth piece and not the real enemy.

Is not the thread "Qantas Management is Damaging the Brand"? If you can't refer to the management, who get paid big bucks and defend their attack on the brand in the media, who can you refer to?
I would be happy to speak to the media about the damage that is being done, but they won't listen to me. I am then left with forums like PPRuNe to voice my opinion.

So DM,by that measure,if you pay the messenger less and their not on the executive board the message will change?
Unlike the year that must not be mentioned, you have run a very sensible low profile campaign, however, despite having right on your side in my opinion, your on a hiding to nothing in the real world in terms of Jo Public.
As an example, this morning on 6PR(you may be able to get a podcast}JT(yes him!) was interviewed and amongst many comments was this Gem "QANTAS PILOTS ARE PAYED TWICE AS MUCH AS THEIR AMERICAN COUNTERPARTS".
The public are not listening, circle the wagons and look after you and your family as much as you can.
I,and many others have been through the trauma of seeing your world turned upside down and wanting to hit out,it's normal and it's human.
I don't have the answers and I don't mean to offend, just saying what I see this time as an observer.

RATpin, you're to sensitive. The comments that you seem to be reacting to were regarding ignorant statements made by Qantas' Executive General Manager for Government and Corporate affairs. The comments didn't refer to gender, appearance or any other personal charactaristic. They related to the message that Qantas is wanting to communicate through mass media, and the way that Qantas chooses to deliver it.

Bruce travels First on TG
Check this. Old mate BB recently travelled First class on Thai from BKK to MEL when JQ left virtually the same time....The CEO won't even fly his own product. Son of a motherless goat......
Wonder who footed that bill?

Qantas Signs Long Term Commercial Agreement With Rio Tinto 06 October 2011
Qantas today announced that it has signed a new three year agreement with Rio Tinto. The new agreement will see Qantas continue to be the major air Service provider for Rio Tinto’s Australian and international operations.
Qantas Group Executive Commercial Rob Gurney said he was pleased that the airline’s long standing partnership with Rio Tinto would continue.
“Qantas has been Rio Tinto’s preferred airline for more than ten years. As a key business partner we are proud to offer Rio Tinto more flights more often, premium service on the ground and in the air, plus access to our extensive regional, domestic, and international network.”
Rio Tino’s Global Head of Procurement Scott Singer was also supportive of the agreement.
“This long term agreement with Qantas enables our organisation to grow and optimises mutual commercial opportunities.”
The recent expansion of Qantas’s fly-in-fly-out operations through the airlines purchase of resource charter airline Network Aviation will also support a range of Rio Tinto projects in Western Australia.
The new Qantas and Rio Tinto agreement has now commenced.

Probably not many, they would however been a guest of the QANTAS group of airlines and free passage would be granted in first on QF if requested, even if it meant a fare paying passenger was downgraded or off loaded.
It would be a very brave (or stupid) QF employee to deny complementary travel in the highest class available to another airlines CEO.

I am surprised these comments by Joyce didn't elicit further comment. The only commercial advantage Qantas has right now is the image of safety. Joyce was effectively saying Qantas is no safer than anyone else. This is the CEO speaking here. Vale the Qantas brand. Murdered by it's supposed custodian.
The pilots imply that safety is their trump card in arguing customers deserve a Qantas pilot when they buy a Qantas ticket, even if shared with Jetstar.
Mr Joyce says if Qantas pilot salaries had to be paid to Jetstar Asia, where there's no shortage of applicants to be captains on $200,000 a year, it would make it uncompetitive, with no jobs for anyone.
The reality is that only 14 per cent of passengers take Qantas to Asian destinations. "Nobody has any safety concerns about Singapore Airlines or Emirates," Mr Joyce says.

Just my personal opinion, but I reckon Qantas is now substantially LESS SAFE than other airlines at the present time.
This industrial nonsense perpetuated by Qantas management MUST be taking it's toll on all Qantas employees. They wouldn't be human if they weren't well and truly distracted from their primary job.
Bloody frightening the lengths that Qantas management are willing to go to. They are risking losing an aircraft with plenty of collateral damage.
I'm not convinced that Qantas could recover from something like that happenning.
