my wife was just made redundant and I can tell you that it's been a very very hard past 5 weeks since the news. There has been heaps like her, trust me.
This management has a track record of making decisions of not making decisions. AJ came out with initial rhetoric and it seems that is where it has stopped. Our managers in QE are not backing up 'the talk with walk'. The market and the employees await.
I hope your wife does well with her new employer.

I know a lot of people in many different areas, Engineering, Ramp and Customer Service. Out of all these people I've only heard about and know of a hand full that have been made or given a redundancy. I also know of the same number of people who have been upgraded in their payscale, SP1 to SP2.
I'm sceptical about the 1750 figure. I know people will lose their jobs, but going of what I've seen and heard, I don't know where the 1750 are coming from.

Has that bozo heading up the 'Capricorn' project been given the flick yet ??? A salary in excess of 7.5K per week to a clueless IT geek is astounding.......

Masif eego,
Not sure if your talking the Aussie in charge or the US "geek" who wrote the original back in the 80s and currently consulting?
Without said "clueless IT geek" you wouldn't have any flightplans!
Or you could try LIDO!
Of course your handle may explain it!

I wouldn't wish redunancy on anyone. Those that get to keep their jobs should really try to appreciate what they have.

It's been just over 12 months since I was retrenched. Wasn't a shock after 20 years with the regular carry-on about redundancies. Besides, my work (in position description) had declined over 2 years and instead was filling in with work above and outside of my award and hated.
Since then, really happy my worklife has changed for the better (in many ways) since the QF retrenchment. Including financially! :P
It's not all bad.
