He's gotta get around the creditors first and theres not enough money in the kitty to do that.

3 mill + for an AOC, not worth it.

He's a fool if he thinks he can take it from the creditors, Especially if the present administrator is voted off...

what assets are there at SAW? how will any administrator raise $$$$$$$$$ to pay creditors???? methinks TB should sort out his own creditors first.

Gone very quiet, suddenly. Everyone over the moon about the meeting yesterday? Sources say AOC could be going north to a tropical location, 190's making a comeback in new colors, jobs all round for the true believers. Sources also say oink oink flap flap.

The Administrator estimates the total debts as between $65 and 80 million. Djc stood up for about 30 seconds to say how sorry he was, but that the priority now was to 'keep the AOC alive'.
Interestingly the man from GECAS said that they also wanted to keep it alive. I would love to know what that little agenda is, because he can't seriously believe that he can place near new E-jets back into the Aussie market right now.
The potential AOC purchaser is the one we all know about who used to buy fuel from the Townsville refueller (cash only).
The Administrator appears to be having a little feeding frenzy on the remaining few bucks in the bank and imho will play it out with the AOC bullsh!t until those funds are gone.

But what can an AOC realistically be worth? Surely no more than a couple of million???

An AOC is a piece of paper; without the structure it is near worthless.

The AOC is issued solely and exclusively to SKY AIR WORLD PTY LIMITED (EXTERNAL ADMINISTRATION and/or CONTROLLER APPOINTED) ACN 121 705 646 and is not transferrable.

How does this White Knight intend to acquire the AOC - and thus the operating company - without assuming liability for the total debts? Under a Deed of Arrangement? What are the terms of that Deed? What benefit to the staff if they support the Deed, or will only the secured creditors benefit?

The Ansett AOC was for sale (under a Deed of Arrangement) for some time until it was finally relinquished to CASA and cancelled.

CAR 28 specify that an AOC is only valid and worth something if you meet the requirements of the law.
That includes the airframe types endorsed.
If you cant meet them, which is in the case of Ground Air World, that
AOC certificate is only worth for framing and hanging as a momento, and may be to be bid on Ebay.
Or else every one would be getting them and selling them at a price,
like old wine.
It cost them about 2 millions to get in 2007,but as it was a new type with
2 other operators,VRGN and ARNTH,costs were shared.
Then there was the addition of the 190 and the shoe box lemon 145,
in fact very easily done with the help of H.C.
In fact the second 145 was done using unapproved swapping of bogus still Polish registered a/c spare parts.

Townsville businessman Terry Byrt eyes new airline
TONY RAGGATT
March 26th, 2009
THE enigmatic owner of collapsed MacAir Airlines, Terry Byrt, is looking to start a new airline.
The mining magnate who claims interests in exploration and drilling, shipping, publishing and an online auction website said he was `moving forward with another airline' by buying the assets of another collapsed airline SkyAirWorld.
"It's on the table, it may not happen, it quite likely will, but it may not, it just depends on the (SkyAirWorld) creditors," Mr Byrt said.SkyAirWorld is a Brisbane-based company which folded spectacularly earlier this month after the last of its five jets was repossessed, owing creditors more than $40 million and with 140 staff left with little chance of being paid their entitlements.
The debacle has left Federal Government transport officials, who only recently awarded the airline a contract to provide services to the remote Cocos and Christmas Island, red-faced and scrambling to provide alternative services.
MacAir collapsed in February with debts believed to be around $10 million and throwing 200 people out of work.
At the time Mr Byrt blamed Queensland Transport, claiming the airline was screwed by government subsidies struck under a previous owner which were too low to operate viable services in western Queensland.
The Government said it had only accepted tender prices provided by MacAir but has ignored questions about its due diligence procedures.
SkyAirWorld administrator Peter Lucas of Lucas and Co was reported in The Australian newspaper last week saying a party was interested in the company's remaining assets, including an air operator's certificate.
Mr Byrt confirmed that party was him.
"We are negotiating, yes, I am building a new airline," Mr Byrt said.
Mr Byrt is behind a website established in the name of Sky East Airlines which states that it is `your new Queensland airline' and the rider it is `subject to regulatory approval'.
The website states that it will offer daily services from Brisbane to Bundaberg, Townsville to Mount Isa and Mount Isa to Cairns; twice daily services from Brisbane to Gladstone, Rockhampton, Mackay, Townsville and Cairns; and twice weekly services from Perth to Cocos Island and Christmas Island.
Mr Byrt is chairman of listed explorer RMA Energy

AOC

whatever that aoc is worth now,
i just found out that during the last C*S* audit in Oct 08,
36 RCA was found, with thousands of Penalty points,
meaning most of the those RCAs breached the CARs,
witha few one severe breaches of the act.

Sitting behind an anonymous name and setting about the engineers is pretty brave. Please PM and we can talk without the cloak of anonymity.
It seems that some people have quite an opinion of the engineers which I had thought was a well worn subject and repeatedly defended by the engineers whose reputation has been left untarnished by the debacle that was SAW.

I did say MOST, not all.

Yes I am a bit late in venting, but I do have a right to speak the truth.

---------------------------------

Maybe you do, but your deleted post is totally superfluous to this thread and unnecessarily inflammatory.

Indeed, due to disunity amongst ex staff, my bet is on the secured creditors, including the Directors, getting the lolly and the staff walking away empty handed.

sky engineers

SmartiePants

you are 100 % right,

engineering had much contribution in the downfall of sky.

lazy, dumb and arrogant and full of ego,

in fact they could not get aircraft operations to run on time and reliably.

most contracts were lost due to bad On time Performance and AOGs.

even pushing them away from the head offices did not fix them,

they were a shame, disgrace and now that they are all on the job market

finding the reality that the qualifications they were all raving about are

not worth to even get a decent job in the airline industry let alone working

on high tech jets.

i just heard that their former head is now working in the motor industry,

and the second from top is in the boating industry.
