Rumour has it that the CEO of SAW is about to close shop tomorrow and it is suspected that he may be trying to set up shop overseas with some of his chosen few.

If the rumour is true he would be leaving behind huge debts owed to all employees and various companies.

I wonder if ASIC will be able do something about it if the rumour is proven to be true!

Meanwhile SAW are still trading and if you have a spare $1000 you can still buy a ticket to the COCO's Islands on the SAW website.

How many times have we all seen start up operations like this turn bad when the purse is empty and as we all know it's the employees who will suffer the incompatence of the few at the top.
While the 190 was in POM as part of its delivery flight (I believe) I was introduced to the CEO of SAW and I must admit I checked to see if my wedding ring was still on my finger after the hand shake as he does come across as a bit of shall we say "Used Car Salesman".
Anyway out of the half a dozen or so crew I have meet from SAW while they have been conducting the Pixie services they have all been decent blokes and I hope that they fall on their feet as things go from bad to worse.

Splat, the staff do suffer through loss of income and the major upheaval of relocating etc. Then there are the small unsecured creditors who get taken down as well. The senior managers have usually skimmed enough off in prior inflated earnings not to suffer at all.
Amazingly, despite the history of failed start-ups, there is always someone willing to pour millions into aviation ventures. Somehow these guys got rich, but you have to wonder whether too much money gives them a sudden urge to blow it all. Are they satisfying some childhood fantasy? Beats me why they hand over such huge amounts of loot.
Watch this space. Some of the SAW senior management will reinvent themselves, dream up a new way to turn millions into red ink and pop up elsewhere. It's a pity that libel laws don't allow us to publish a 'name and shame' list to warn other would-be investors off.

owning an airline is a very galmorous investment,
you would be surprised by the number of projects just in Australia in the pipeline,
if you have a mate in C*S* canberra,they can tell you of the amount of
enquiries they get from cashed up millionaires,about the easy/fast way to
get flying.
some do manage by indirect means,and within some time end up closing.

as most ex senior managers of dead airlines are usually young,they end up rehashed by mateship again somewhere else.

look at world aviation since the last 3 decades,and the same people show up
again in onother part of the world.

his applies to

directors,
managers,
admin staff,
traffic staff,
flt ops staff,
tech crews,
cabin crews,
engineers,
ground handlers, etc...

no one can stop dead wood being reused,because most deals are usually done in pubs or barbie parties.

It seems to me that based on the BS RUP has posted recently he might have an agenda to see to it that any thread relating to SAW is stopped by the mods through thread hijacking/ irrelevant ramblings. Are the SAW management worried about what people say on here?:uhoh: or is RUP really just the king of sarcasm :confused:

The last SAW thread was interesting until the dribble commenced. Hopefully this thread will be somewhat more informative and factual.

Can someone do a detailed analysis of what transpired for them to come to this position,

i am sure there are some pretty smart guys out there who would

737 are for a Danish contract that they have not got i.e Air Amsterdam have won.
Warning to all ex and current check your super contributions, they have not been paid since last October including salary sacrifice. No salary, No redundancy and now no super!

You have had SAW I, now for the sequel SAW II. The producers of this sequel will be the same as the first, so I presume the same b**ls**t script and bad management will prevail. And like the first offering it will die when it hits the screens. But that is showbiz and it is only for the big boys who know how to write good scripts and manage all the actors well.

I don't know the answer to your question. All I know is that when it happened to my colleagues and I in the early 90's the co had been wound up before we found out that super hadn't been paid.

One would hope that knowing in advance might give more options.

Doesn't look like SAW won the NATO contract.:eek:

Amsterdam Airlines will start fly from the end of March between northern European countries and Afghanistan. The Dutch company has a contract signed with Nord Caps, a military alliance of five countries in Northern Europe. The agreement has a duration of at least one year and may be extended by two years.

The flights of Amsterdam Airlines, on behalf of Nordcaps, will depart from airports in Oslo, Copenhagen, Vasteras (Sweden) and Pori (Finland) to militairy zones in Kabul and Mazar I Sharif. A stop-over in Trabzon (Turkey) is necessairy.

Well, it's good news for Amsterdam Airlines. At least a contract but instead of carrying tourism and business travellers, which was the statement of AA, it'll carry military guys.
