Qantas Link to become Jetstar
Was at a BBQ three days ago when a person said they had heard that Q-link was being looked at to become JQ.
Given the tone of some other threads, one would have to think this is not too far off.
PropStar, here we come!
I wonder how National Jet will take to this?

Naah, no way, not any time soon. Unless tricky Dicky shuts down Eastern, Sunstate and Airlink and then pushes them over to Jetstar on AWAs with lower costs. Even still, they would keep the roo on them. Qantaslink is in many ways a premium product and I am sure there are many who customers who would be dark over it becoming a part of the Jetstar brand.
As I see it, Qantas domestic will shrink to CityFlyer and a few other select routes where there is demand for their product, while new routes and the leisure ones will go through Jetstar. Qantaslink needs to remain in order to feed the mainline services, at least in brand. I think that the regional group does a great job as it is and that they'll keep separate from Jetstar for a while.
Now, how about Jetstar starting a regional arm, flying out of Avalon maybe . . .?

I reckon QL is an absolute goldmine for QF; costs similar to JQ but QF prices. Why would GoD deliberately change the name, service and drop prices only to hurt his bottom line?
If it does happen, the QL troops at NJS will get ID travel at last! Won't they?!

Never say Never.Jetstar was Qantas Link in a former life!!
As for Qf link being a "premium product" id have to debate that one with you.Premium services actually run when they are supposed too!!
For premium operators have a look at lauda, singapore and jet blue to name a few.
Cheers DM

Jetstar was QF link, aka Impulse airlines, that's what your company trading name was as under the AOC at the time. Your operation was always going to be the one that lowered it for everyone else DM..as opposed to the current QF link operation that provides a better service than Jetstar...and do you really think the pollies will travel on your airline out of Canberra?? Again, another Jetstar person with a take over the world mentality...they certainly do good spin at Jetstar!!

You're so right. Never. Some QantasLink services were operated to Qantaslink standards by Impulse which later became Jetstar. Never say Jetstar = Qantaslink or, God forbid, Qantas. It's just like putting a square peg into a round hole. When they were operating for Qantaslink, some Impulse staff passed themsleves off as 'Qantas staff'. How delusionary was that?
DM, when I say that QF Link is a premium product, I mean that it is more akin to Qantas mainline service than Jetstar or Ryanair. In many regional centres QFLink get the high paying passengers who will expect to earn FF points, get something to eat, and also are more brand loyal to Qantas. They would lose a lot of brand support if they changed them to Jetstar services, given that Jetstar is not a great brand. The beauty of Qantaslink, particularly on the East Coast is that it often feeds in to services on the wider Qantas network, as well as being highly profitable for them.
I would say that Jetstar will take over some services, but that the Dash 8s will still have Qantas badges on them and probably still be operated by the various carriers that make up QantasLink. To re-brand the whole things as Jetstar would be marketing suicide for the roo.

The people I worked with at Impulse were only too proud to make the distinction that we worked for Impulse. (I speak of cabin crew, of course). We offered a level of service far superior to Short Haul economy and were at the top of the group in customer service satisfaction ratings every quarter. We had this little thing happening called pride. (Which has since been totally destroyed by Jetstar management.)
Your bitchy comment has nothing to do with the thread, serves no purpose and could not be further from the truth.
Back to the thread... I do not believe QFLink will become Jetstar. Though I do believe a handful of current QFLink routes may become Jetstar routes.

Dixon's glove puppet Borghetti, when explaining why Qantas are giving the Sydney Townville route to Jet * claimed their "research" showed it to be a leisure route.
From this I suppose you determine that Qantas doesn't want to carry leisure passengers. All those people going on holidays, visiting friends and rellies can all just p*ss off, and leave Qantas to those business travellers.
Trouble is that will just leave City Flyers. And less of them too.
Borghetti obviously hasn't noticed the economic boom going on in Townsville. Or maybe he has and he's just bullsh*tting.
Any excuse to prop up Jet*.
Based on this logic anything is possible with subsidiary airlines. Any excuse will do.

Who cares what the brand is really? Affordable,on time, friendly and efficient air travell is something that every pax wants and unfortunately no airlines in this country provide. Petty bickering and slagging off from within wont keep the pax happy but certainly must make the management types laugh.
The pax pay your wages folks. Id suggest a stint overseas for most posters here!!
