Axe in full swing
Following last weeks sacking of Line Maint Manager Bruce Deahm it appears that the Qf board haven't stopped swinging with their rusty old axe. Bruces ex boss John Vincent and his groomed successor Tony Hayward have been shown the door today also.
All those suckholes who chose to sell their souls to the devil better try again. The devil is dead along with all his helpers.

swing that mother f en axe. where are you now mr Qantas you seem to be staying low trying to avoid that axe -- the s t sandwiches are finally being served out ---as stated before there will be causalties on both sides. seems like a major purge at the top ranks

Word is that the purge is taking place because the management team has lost touch with the engineers. The alaea has no power to direct the members anymore or end the current eba dispute, the members have taken away the power and Qantas are unsure how to handle the situation. Any manager who has been involved in the secret meetings with the senior alaea officials is in the gun sight. It looks like Qantas are resigned to the fact that the ALAEA is about to become a more conventional industrial organisation. I understand that the new management team will also be a more conventional outfit.

Correction -
Vincent was shown the door but looks like he's settled for a sideways shove. He may have retained his title but the Line Maint portfolio has been taken away. Good luck John with your new job, we will remember you every time we look at the strategy map.

Rumour is that K.Cl is under pressure due to bris H/M not performing as promised. It is hard for him to explain that if you select engineers on their ability to say yes, and not their ability to fix aircraft, and have them directed by a bunch of non aircraft experienced managers and Advance planners instead of experienced managers with an industry background and skilled snr LAMEs, the place is bound to have many f ups and not run smoothly or safely.

Bne heavy are doing OK. Forget OLD Qantas. Get used to it 'cause SYD HM will be a distant memory. What's happening throughout the network is only just the thin edge of the wedge.

Goodbye old qantas, hello New Qantas BNE H/M style.
God help us all! The list of substantiated stories that come out of there makes me shudder. eg The manager PT ordering that a component be dissassembled,new parts fitted and put back into service even though it can only legally be done in a workshop, just to save a bit of money. The only upside is that eventually a tech rep threatened to ground the aircraft and report it to CASA stopped it from going ahead.
This cavalier approach to save money at all costs should be stamped out immediately.
The flying public need to be aware that maintaining aircraft is not cheap and if they want SAFE travel they will have to pay an extra five to ten dollars a ticket.
If they want Dodgy Brothers Airways then they have to accept the fact that it might not be as safe as it should be.

Pizza will be correct if the company get there way with the recent EBA, with the transmission of business clause included then all of Engineering will be a distance memory as far as Qantas is concerned. They can sell Etoms as a going concern without having to worry about paying them nasty severance payouts. What will happen to all the engineering people who work there at the moment. Well Qantas will ensure that they have gainful employment with the new company for a set period by signing a contract with the company for about 2/3 years. They will be making around the same money, about 20k less a year but thats not a great differance in the scheme of things and they can work O/T to make up the differance, O/T will of course be ensured for a while.
However after the contract period is up then Qantas can and will shop around for the cheapest place to get the work done . Your new company loses the contract and then your out the door with no severance payouts.

My fears exactly Mr Chairman!!!Maybe we're better off accepting a redundancy now while one still exists, have an extended holiday and come back on the sh!t pay and conditions that we are all destined for(If we can't find anything better).
At least we would have got a decent payout in the process!!

But even now working for Qantas the pay is nothing special when you take into account the work we do and the shift we work and especially when you consider what other people who have similir jobs are making. When (not if) the Qantas plan is brought into effect then it will be difficult to get people to work for anything less than what they are getting paid now. However workers will be imported on short term visa's.
So if you can get a golden handshake then take it and move on.

Many years of failure by our Association appears to have left you all despondent and resigned to failure. This thought process has been fostered by the airline and the union and will lead to defeat before any battle. Others are a little more optimistic. The light at the end of the tunnel is drawing closer with elections for all Fed Exec positions in 12 months time. Until then lets hope the current officials don't tear the house down.

The Masked Goat Abuser is correct when he says that the work force has being conditioned by both the Association and the company to accept what every titbits offered. The Association takes the view that mushrooms covered in horse **** are relativally happy and Dixon is happy with his fat profit which equals fat bonuses for himself. But the workers who toil away, year in year out to make that profit have seen there take home wages eaten away by inflation. Property, child care, school fees, car rego etc etc have all increased by more than the 3% that has being offered so wages have in effect gone down.
So what can the work force do to compensate for the poor wages, well do as I do, go into work every day and do nothing. I have being doing this for years so it seems the company has to pay me my crappy 45K for nothing. You will of course have to work a second job outside to feed the family and pay the mortague but people have to do that either ways, and this way you are always fresh as a daisy for that second job.
If you have any better ideas then let us all know.

You know that there are companies at Bankstown so desperate foro LAMEs they are offering 100k plus car for a metro licence.
Qantas offers us 52k and lease your own car for 744 er and RR.
There is work outside boys, and they'll appreciate you more.
