Yeah, Capt J,
It seems that they will be assigned across to the 400 or 330... So close most of them would be to F/O slots, now have to do another ground course, then a freeze on the new type - 18months if assigned (??) of 2.5years if bidded? What a choice, bid and go to the 400 and wait longer, or cop the 330... as an s/o
I hope the guys (and girls) get a shot at an f/o slot... I heard there are more maggot slots coming shortly??

A333's going international but Airbus still haven't solved the problems with the IFE (due to Airbus not providing the IFE manufacturer with software source codes to allow the system to integrate properly).

New A330-300 Aircraft Off to Hong Kong
Sydney, 10 August 2004
Qantas today began operating its new Airbus A330-300 aircraft on international routes. The aircraft will initially operate from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth to Hong Kong.
Executive General Manager Qantas Airlines, John Borghetti, said this marked an important step in a fleet strategy which will see A330-300s replacing Boeing 767 aircraft on international routes.
Qantas recently took delivery of three new two-class A330-300s fully configured for international flying and featuring:
* 30 Business Class and 267 Economy Class seats;
* Qantas' new International Business Class product which includes the award winning Skybed sleeper seat and specially trained, dedicated flight attendants;
* Qantas' Inflight Entertainment System offering individual inseat video screens and 18 video and 16 audio channels for customers in Business and Economy Class;
* two self-service Business Class bars; and
* mood lighting throughout the Business Class cabin.
"The A330-300 fleet will become an integral part of our international operations," Mr Borghetti said.
"The aircraft will allow us to offer our new Skybed International Business Class product and inflight entertainment system on important routes such as Hong Kong."
The Airbus A330-300s will fly on other medium haul routes in coming months, including Tokyo Narita, Singapore and from Sydney to Shanghai when Qantas resumes services to China on 2 December later this year.
A further three A330-300s will be delivered for international flying from November 2004, bringing the total A330-300 fleet to nine.
A330-300 statistics include:
* Length 63.7 metres
* Width 5.38 metres
* Wing Span 60.3 metres
* Average Cruise Speed 880 km/h
* Cruise Altitude 28,000-39,000 feet
* Maximum Range 9,445 km
* Engines General Electric CF6-80E1A3

Silberfuchs,
QF longhaul have a seperate category of FAs that work in First and Business class only.
This "B-First" category is performance based and highly sought after.
It generally attracts those FAs with high personal standards and the kind of attention to detail needed in those cabins.
The A330 at this stage will be operated internationally by domestic FAs.
All of whom have been trained to operate in Business class.
QFs advertising that it operates with "dedicated" Business class FAs is, as of today, false and misleading.
Lets see if they alter that advertising..............

B-First
I think the B-First concept has alot going for it... now the cabins that (from a $$ paying punter) should have that 'extra touch' (ie J&F) get it. no longer does the most senior do a particular area because he/she may veiw it as easier/bludgier... not that it would happen often, but it could in the past, now F/As individually indentified then trained are used... great idea, the punters should like it. (IMHO)

knackeredII, do you mean A332s for international service? QF only has 4 Airbus A332s, they're staying on domestic services. All the A333s will be soon doing international except for A332.
Sorry if I've replied to your question incorrectly.

Yes, staying domestic because some mental giant ordered them with inadequate specs. re floor strength etc.
Probably got a bonus to boot.
Turkeys!
You gotta wonder where they get these idiots from.

???? What, in just 6 months QF will have enough A333's to do all that? Somehow I don't think so.... But I am wrong about at least one thing everyday, maybe this is today's error!

It's probably been answered in a post before but I'll ask again.
Why did QF buy the 200 and 300? My understanding is the 200 was designed for longer range. Was QF planning on using the 200 on longers routes than NRT, HKG etc?

The 3 remaining A333s on domestic ops will be upgraded and moved to Intl ops during Nov/Dec. Plus QF take delivery of another 2 A333s before FEB05.
The A332s will remain on domestic ops.

To anyone actually operating the 332 and 333
How does the 332 and 333 measure up payload/range wise ? eg.
A full pax load NRT-PER with alt for forcast fog (he he he.... )
