Thumbs down 330-200 the short ranger?!

Line up & wait, apparently the board were surprised to find out that the 300 had shorter legs than the 200, don't bigger planes fly further?
TankEngine - I sure hope so!!
Ron & E Johns, I'm not sure, but there is only about a dozen - maybe fewer 767-300s out on long haul ops, so their shoes wont be too hard to fill with the "current" 330 fleet plan... as for the persisant 340 rumours doing the rounds... with a board meeting coming up? or is my rumour detector a little too twitchy

Slice;
A full pax load NRT-PER with alt for forcast fog (he he he.... )
how about unforecast! .... there but for the grace etc etc go i...

Slice, to give you an idea, they flew the second -200 toulouse-mel non-stop on it's delivery flight. So of course QF put them on domestic operations.

I believe the range of the -300 is somewhat better than the 763 but nowhere near as good as the -200.

Question

Beno1 if the 330 takes all the routes you mentioned that the qf 763's are currently running, what international flying will the 767 be doing after Feb 05. Besides, CNS-NRT-CNS, Jakarta and across the tasman?
Will Feb be the end of S/O's on the 76?

The 763 S/Os will either promote to a F/O on 737s, go to S/O on the 744 or train for the A333s.

Captn J's got it - I hope those with the numbers get accomodated on the 737... maybe they'll manage it like the 747 classic retirement that 'happened'?

in any case, I believe the 330-200 has fuel tank capacity of approx 110 tons?? (unreliable source) couple that with a supposed burn of less than a 767... and you have the perfect a/c for domestic ops... syd-per? no worries about fog, just carry AKL or maybe something further afield... (mlw worries aside!)

I have also been told that some 763 S/Os will be moving to AO for a while if they prefer to. They just can't get enough of the 767s. Can't blame them for that, it's a nice aircraft after you've flown it a few times.

From what I know the 200 has the additional centre wing tank and the 300 does not. Seems to fit in with the rest of the decisions that were made regarding the A330 purchase.

I went to buy a plasma TV the other day, and the salesman said if I buy this $10,000 unit he'd chuck in a $300 DVD player for free. Didn't really need another DVD player, it didn't have the features I like - I really would have preferred another brand. However, "what a great deal," I thought, "where do I sign?!"

Captain Can't

Ballpark figures re fuel burn A330-300 - 6 tonnes per hour & B767-300 - 4.5 tonnes per hour. The extra seats on the A330 make it cheaper per Seat km.

I got the info from friends who work in Qantas. Sorry but that's all I know, can't expand it anymore.

My understanding is that there are numerous, mostly experienced ex-Ansett, pilots in QF with seniority numbers who, with little hope of rapid promotion, are being offered the chance to take 'leave of absence' in order to progress their careers using their substantial A320 experience base for the rapid establishment of Jetstar Asia. They will preserve their QF seniority number, recoup at least their former rank on A320, probably achieve accelerated promotion, and retain the right to re-enter QF as time/positions/promotions allow. The only debate centres on whether the conditions on offer are suitable for the costs to families of relocation to Singapore and residence therein.
Just a rumour!
