Stage 1 at Prestwick on 3rd December @ 9am.

Very nervous - but also excited :)

Good luck to anyone/everyone sitting their tests.

Spyder35 15th November 2010 12:25

Anyone from 05/11/10 @ Prestwick heard anything at all yet?

sambatc 15th November 2010 12:38

the waiting game sucks, eh... :ugh:

Spyder35 15th November 2010 14:40

It doesn't half, especially given that initially I was convinced I had messed it up, but now as each day passes I'm starting to have some hope that "no news is good news". Fingers crossed!

Hi Folks

Recently completed the online assessment and was asked to book a date for my stage 1. When i tried there was no interview spaces available so emailed HR. This is the response i got:

Please be advised…

The number of selection centres for Trainee Air Traffic Controllers will reduce with effect from the 1st January 2011 until further notice. This reflects a reduction in Trainee opportunities over the past year and in consequence the longer lead times from selection to start of training for successful candidates.

Therefore:-

Stage 1 test dates will not be available until April 2011.

Stage 2 computer test dates will not be available during the months of March & April.

Stage 3 dates will be reduced in frequency but will continue to run every month at either Prestwick, Hurn and Swanwick.

We appreciate this will be a disappointment to many applicants and we will provide a further update in the spring. When new dates are added to the system you will be alerted by email. At this stage we can not advise you of or book you on dates for next year.

A little gutted here as was hoping to be in college by the time ill onl justy start my stage 1.

Sofia - I couldn't find any cubes exercises anywhere, either. Quite annoying really to not be able to get any practice at the hardest part of the assessment!!

Eatofo - that's terrible news, on a purely selfish note though it looks like I applied just in time

Hey,

When did you get this through from NATS? I'm a little curious as I had initially booked my stage 1 for early December but emailed them to ask to change to a date in January 2011 and they didn't mention what you've said.

Having said that, as a second time applicant its very frustrating there's now no chance of progressing anywhere till April 2011! Regret changing my stage 1 date now :{

Eatofo 16th November 2010 10:19

Second Tim Lucky

I emailed them yesterday asking for a date in January and received that as my response. At least i have lots of time to study now.

Hi,

Thanks for the info. I will attend Stage 1 in early December, so, if I pass, hopefully I can attend Stage 2 in either January or February. From what I understand, Stage 2 will be off-limits only in March and April.

This is bad news though. Ouch.

Eatofo 16th November 2010 11:01

I emailed them yesterday and got the response today. Leaves me plenty of time to study i guess.

BarryK 16th November 2010 14:15

I think they ended up sending it to everyone, as I'm booked on a stage 2 on the 6th (and am I glad I got that booked!), and I got the same mail. I do hope this means that stage 3 isn't going to be made any more gruelling than it already is!

RGR-747 16th November 2010 23:01

Hi!

Anyone else for stage3 this thursday 18 of November at Prestwick???
Just good luck to everyone and hope to find some of you there!! :ok:

sambatc 17th November 2010 13:04

Anybody doing their Stage 2 on friday the 19th?
I'll be staying at the Red Lion in Fareham the 18th.... expect to arrive around 18.00....

sambatc 18th November 2010 08:19

unfortunately it's 15 working days.... so your deadline is the 26th. Mine's not till Dec 3rd (which is actually the day I fly to Thailand... and to think I was hoping to get stage 2 done before I went away!)

Hi all! Been reading through, well most of it anyway.

From what I gather, I think I will be too old to go for it. Is there an upper age limit?

Would my life experience of my current and previous jobs go towards my application? Also, I left school with only GCSE's, back in the days when no-one went to Uni. It's not looking good for me is it? Be honest.....

Hi,

Regarding your age, I'm not 100% sure, however for NATS, they require only 5 GCSE's at A*-C (Inc. Maths & English and most likely a science).

Well its easier for me to say, I left school two years ago, and I only have 8 Good GCSE's (A*-C) and the rest are D's and E's :ugh:, luckily they are only in French and R.E.

I was accepted for stage 1 assessment with NATS, but I have had to pull out due to a personal situation, nothing serious though.

So if you are still within limits, give it a go, the worst that could happen is a 'NO', but also have you looked for any vacancies as a ATCA?

Kind regards

NDW
