I'm just finishing up my packing, flying to London tomorrow. If anyone else is staing at the premier inn Fareham I'll let the reception know I'm going to the NATS tests in the morning. So just ask them and they can hopefully point you in my direction so we can have a chat and perhaps arrange to share a cab in the morning (I'll be arriving around 5-6 pm btw) :)
I'm also heading to Whiteley, but in December. I will also be staying at the Premier Inn Fareham. If you don't mind, could you please report how everything went once you come back? I'd like to know more opinions not only about the hotel, but also about that area in general.

For example, have you decided what to do when you land in London? I will land in Heathrow, so I think the best way is to travel by tube directly to Waterloo and then catch a train to Swanwick (with a brief stop in Southampton).

Once in Swanwick, it seems that the railway station is close enough to the hotel, so you can walk there in about 20 minutes. I have already seen the route in Google Maps Street View, but the thing is, I would have to walk through the motorway for some time. Considering that it may be raining and freezing and also that at this time of the year it gets dark around 15:30, maybe that's not such a good idea. Are there any taxis near Swanwick railway station? That would be great.

I'll basically do the same thing you're doing in about a month, so any advice would be great :ok:

I will do my best to remember it all for you :) I plan to do exactly what you described, I'll be coming into stansted so I have a train ticket to london, then via the tube to waterloo and a train to swanwick and the walk to the inn. But I'll try to remember the route and check for any optional ways to get there :)

Fri 05 Nov Prestwick

Hi all,

I don't suppose anyone who attended Prestwick on Fri has heard anything yet? As you can gather, I'm the impatient type! How many made it through the cut-off pm?

unrealdream 9th November 2010 12:03

In the many pages of thread I've read, I haven't seen anyone mention the number of numeracy questions they give and how long you have to try and complete these in.

Just hoping someone can enlighten me! I realise it's a lot in a very short space of time, but it's good to know exactly!

Spyder35 9th November 2010 12:08

You should aim to do a SDT question inside about 45 secs on average - some you should do in 10 secs, others will take you a minute, possibly more.

unrealdream 9th November 2010 12:33

Oh that's a relief, on the raf site - depending on difficulty of the 10 questions they give, I'm averaging about 16-22 seconds. I realise these are of the easier sort, but I shan't get in too much of a flap when they're taking me a bit longer lol!

Thanks.

Crazy: I'm staying somewhere a bit further afield in Droxford and driving down, but it's only a 20min drive. Much better than the 2 hours it would take from home!

Anyone going to Stage 1 in Bournemouth on Wed 24 Nov?

Sam

Crazy Voyager 9th November 2010 14:49

@dcoliv It's stage 1 :)

@unrealdream
Yeah if I had a car in the UK I'd probably do the same :) I'll probably see you there on Thursday then :)

BarryK 9th November 2010 16:14

If anyone is booked into their stage 2 on 6th December, and isn't bringing their car, I'm bringing mine, and will be staying at the Express by Holiday Inn M27 J7 if you want a lift...

kwagga 9th November 2010 17:11

Crazy Voyager:

Check your pm.

Anyone doing their Stage 2 in December at Swanwick?

sambatc 10th November 2010 12:37

can anyone who's recently done stage 1 tell us how quickly they're responding at the moment?? The wait after doing the tests is gonna kill me.... :ugh:

BarryK 10th November 2010 14:20

I'm doing mine on December 6th at CTC, not Swanwick. You sure you're going to Swanwick and not Whiteley?

sambatc 10th November 2010 14:33

Swanwick = Whitely.... pretty much anyway. And definitely in this context

Spyder35 10th November 2010 14:48

I reckon it'll be at least a week before you know - I sat them Fri morning(05th) and as yet no news. I'm not too confident though.

BarryK 10th November 2010 16:01

Yeah, the turn-around time is generally about a week or so.

sambatc 11th November 2010 09:16

I wonder how those doing their stage 1 right now are getting on......

23 hours and counting till mine..... :uhoh:

unrealdream 11th November 2010 12:05

Just got home from mine. It wasn't the worst exam/test I've ever sat, nor was it the easiest! Time melted away!

I quite enjoyed the diagramming, but the cubes were a bit tricky!

student88 11th November 2010 14:17

Just got home from the 9am S1 group. The numeracy test was unexpected! Enjoyed the cubes as ever, diagramming not so much. Good luck to all waiting for their yes/no.
