others were better than me obviously:} Since we're now in the month of May it's now less than one month to go until my stage 3 on May 31. Any more ppruners except myself and unrealdream who will be there? :) |
Has anyone had their results yet for stage 1 on 15th April (Fareham, a.m)?
|
Flying down to Southampton tomorrow morning for Stage 2 on Tuesday.....very excited, and nervous!
|
@ TCR No news yet. I did the exam on 15th, morning time, and I'm still waiting. I think that this Friday it's going to be 15 days (work days), so results will be rolling by shortly.
BTW; who were you? Where were you sitting? Cheers |
Now then FoxtrotCharlie7,
Don't bank on hearing something by Friday, saddly our 15 working days are due to be up on 12.05.11. Since our test date we have had 4 bank/public holidays. |
Hi FoxtrotCharlie7,
I was the guy in the white shirt too nervous to talk to anybody and was sat on the right hand side next to the window (1/2 way down the row). Were you the person who said we had all failed after the 1st 2 tests when the 10 or so people were invited outside the room (i.e. they were the ones that had failed not us)?! Just remember he had a European accent so thought it might be you.. |
@TCR :\:\:\ That was me, yes :\:\:\ such a shame...........
Any results? @Batfink79! Why do you predict next week? :bored: Wait is killing meeee :ugh: Cheers |
To be honest mate, I have no idea when we will hear. We were told on the day, they were going to try and get the result to us by the following Friday.
But thought i would make you aware that our 15th working day is actually 12.05.11, so if you haven't heard by Friday, don't panic. :) |
Stage 2 done.......wow! Pretty darn difficult!
|
I have my stage 2 tests on Friday (6th). I've prepared in the same way I did for the stage 1 tests (even though they didn't give any preparation materials this time round) but I was wondering if anyone had any advice for other ways I can prepare for these tests?
I'm fairly nervous at the moment as I have no idea what to expect from the tests or what will be like, only that they will be hard. I don't really want to be caught off guard on the day... |
There's not that much to do really. Make sure you sleep well, get a good breakfast and be there with plenty of time. Then just relax as best you can, focus and just keep on working. That's really all the advice I can give, I don't think there is much you can do to prepare and the tests are designed for you to come there without preparation so I wouldn't worry about it. Just do your very best and hopefully you'll be fine, good luck :)
|
Hey Gaz! Howz tricks?
To all those about to attend stage 2, before I went to stage 2 I'd have thought that Crazy Voyager's advice wasn't detailed enough but I now know the most important preparation is being in top form from start to finish. The only other (minor) tip I can think of would to maybe do some logic puzzles, crosswords or sudoku in the days and hours leading up to the tests just to get your brain warmed up. If I were to relay what I've personally learned from this experience I would say do not travel 400 miles by bus the day before :bored:, definitely get more than 2 to 3 hours sleep :hmm:, don't skip breakfast :oh:, find a taxi driver who knows where you're going , and whatever you do don't panic during the test when things seem to be going wrong :ugh: (and unless you're a super genius they will go wrong from time to time :{). (Also, I try to bear in mind that I'll know better for next year.) The up side of travelling by bus was that I saved a fortune and I met a really nice Irish girl on the return leg who seemed to think I was funny ;). Good luck to everyone who is going and who has gone. |
Ah Mr Frost ! Good trip back to Edinburgh, was it ? If it's any consolation....the flight was delayed till 10pm...lol ! Glad you made it home safe mate.
I agree also, the only thing you can do for stage 2 is just that. Plenty of rest, don't panic, try not to be too nervous and just know that everyone doing the tests are only human, and everyone will make mistakes no matter what. Good luck to you ! |
That's good advice Frost and Gaz.
Thanks. |
Results From April 15th Stage 1
Hey Everyone from 15/4 Stage 1, looks like today's the day.
Have just received my invite to take the personality test. :8 Good luck to everyone! |
Saddly the miracle I needed after the diagramming tests didn't come to pass.
Had a sneaky feeling they got the better of me (more obvious than sneaky actually lol) Congrats to all those who get to do stage two and beyond! :) Here's looking forward to about December when I can go again... :) |
It was nice to feel famous. Stage 2 tests were hard, lets make no bones about it.
The stuff about resting is absolutely right. There are MORE cubes at stage 2 by the way, there seemed in the past to be some confusion of this being the case. What else would I say? I've heard its worth remembering your answers to the personality test - although obviously, truth is king. Keenly awaiting next Friday, when rumour has it those who took Stage 2 this week might be finding out... Phil |
Hey Phil,
It was good to meet you. I heard the "Friday" rumour also. It was ridiculous but I was nervous yesterday even though I knew they meant next Friday. Kept checking my email when I could. I heard all the people who took Stage 2 in the last week get their results on Friday. Which reminds me, have you still got the special pen we needed? I can't find mine and I don't want to have to buy another one. - the person who "outed" you |
Waiting for the results is AWFUL....I've not had a decent nights sleep or a moment without 'butterflies' since taking the tests. Roll on Friday....it can't come quick enough !!
|
Having sat the Stage 2 computer tests last Thursday I got an email today inviting me to complete an Occupational Personality Questionnaire. Anyone any idea if this is something that everyone does after Stage 2? Or if it indicates I'm borderline getting to next stage possibly?! Cheers
|
Good luck Schmizzles. Had stage 2 in Whitely last Friday - nervously checking email! Eeeek!
|
Hi,
Well done to everyone who passed their stage 1 and stage 2, good luck for other stages! I just wanted to know that whether we need to learn the ' seating details' precisely as written in the literature that NATS have provided or just have a rough idea about each? N |
@ Pinknails92 A rough idea should be enough. The questions about the 25 page document given during stage 1 all have multiple choice answers. As long as you recognise the answer when you see it you'll be fine. Good luck.
@ schmizzles I assume you already completed the bio-data personality questionnaire between stages 1 and 2 so I'm curious about this occupational personality questionnaire you got. At least it's not a no. I'm expecting my failure notification any day now and after my dismal stage 2 performance I'd kill to be borderline. |
@mrfrost - I wouldn't worry mate, there isn't much chance that you did poorer than me during stage 2......and I'm being very optimistic about the results-but expecting zilch. Best of luck to you though....here's hoping we find out on Friday as I really hate playing this waiting game lol.
All the best :) |
Schmizzles,
This is a copy from the NATS careers website: "If you were successful on assessment day two you'll be invited to complete an online occupational personality questionnaire" Well done :-) |
NATS Stage 1/2 Question
Hi guys,
I have my Stage 1 assessment centre at Prestwick on 20th May. I am not too worried about the spatial reasoning and diagramming part of the process (if I get that far) because I can't do much preparation for them. I have learned pretty much the whole of the NATS booklet (with the exception of the first few pages - introduction etc.) and I was wondering do you actually need to know how many seats the different models of planes take and which airlines operate them etc? Also I have had no indication of what type of questions are going to be asked for the maths part of the test. Is it hard? I have done tests for graduate schemes in the past few months which I imagine are quite different to what I will experience next Friday. Are there any particular formulas which need to be learned? I would be grateful if someone could perhaps give me a sample of what might be asked for the maths bit :) |
The wait is over
It seems they have started to send more emails out regarding the stage 2 results - I've got mine at least. Good luck to all the others that are waiting.
Robb - You need to have a general idea about the aircraft. If you cn learn all the seatings then great - you'll have a lot more to learn at the college. But if you can distinguish between large and small aircraft for long haul/short haul then you might be ok. Regarding the maths its all about speed/distance/time. No formulas to learn but you need to be quick. There's a good test example on the RAF website thats mentioned a few pages back. |
Please excuse the outburst chaps but... WOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
Stage 2 complete, I've got to do my Occupational Personality test but I've already had my stage 3 invite. Good luck to all those who were on my stage 2, great time had by all I think, made even better by a good result today! Also: Which reminds me, have you still got the special pen we needed? I can't find mine and I don't want to have to buy another one. - the person who "outed" you Good luck with your results mate. Phil |
Hi there Robbb123_123 (AKA Rob - if you don't mind),
Unfortunately we can't really give out samples. But the maths questions are fairly basic. Consider them to be.. approximately GCSE level. Speed is the key however. So whilst your maths from graduate schemes is almost certainly up to scratch, I would very much suggest you brush up on the old mental arithmetic and speed of mental calculation. The better you know the ATC Motivation pamphlet the better off you will be. Although hopefully it will leave you pleasantly surprised by the difficulty of the paper. Better that than to be under-prepared. If you're happy on cubes etc, then all I need to do is wish you the best of luck. Phil |
Hi Phil,
Well done to you! Would you mind to let me know which days or month is available for stage 3? Cheers, |
Would someone that have received their stage two results mind telling me when they sat their test? Cheers
|
Hey gazb,
I think we sat it on the same day (5th of May). Only just seen your pm now. I've had my results already (got it yesterday afternoon at the same time as PhilTheFamousReaper) so I wish you the best of luck with yours. |
Sup Gaz?
To answer your question it seems that Philthereaper and Chocolatehobnob sat theirs on Wednesday the 4th and received their results on Thursday the 12th. However schmizzles sat his/hers on Thursday the 5th and got his/her result on Monday the 9th. By the way, congrats :D or commiserations :( to all those who've received their results. Intelligenetics is the only other one to reveal their Stage 2 day (Friday 6th) but hasn't posted anything about a result yet. You and I sat ours before all of these nice people :ugh:..... and if I don't get my result today I'm going to be a basket case all weekend :uhoh:. |
Mr Frost81,
Still no sign of results - I'll let ye know when I get them! Good luck with the wait! Tis nerve racking to say the least! Thank God I can't check my email very often, because I'd be checking it every 2 seconds if I could! Till the results - breathe easy! |
MrFrost
I don't think you would want your results today with it been Friday 13th ;) anyway, I was just wondering what the D/S/T questions are like, I am confident with using speed, just not quite sure how to work out Distance and Time, I can do them but it takes me a while and I also struggle with long division, one more question, what is the best way to learn the cubes? I have purchased that online cube FEAST test thing, which is helping a bit but is there any other way that would also help me, sitting my stage 1 at the end of June :) |
Hi mrfrost!
Hmm...that's a little random, but your totally right.....if I don't receive the results today....I'm not going to exactly have a relaxing weekend at all. Do you think the delay in our results has something to do with our technical issue during the tests? |
I had my stage 2 last friday and have yet to hear too.
|

No results today... (unless some sainted individual works overtime :p). For me this is worse than a failure notice. The reason? Because I noticed every last one of my mistakes right after I made them (and they were many). I know I've failed, I just need confirmation to put my mind at ease. The problem I have now is that over the weekend, at some point, I'm going to convince myself that maybe, just maybe, I might have scraped a pass :\. I can already feel my grip on reality slipping... ... I did fairly well on the Strip Display Management Test...... maybe I do have a chance.... |
Evening all,
Does anyone here have their Stage 1 at Prestwick on Friday 24th June? 09:15. Thanks, NDW |
I've been feeling the exact same MrFrost....completely.
Seems like we have to wait till next week now....I still don't really understand why ours have taken longer. Thanks for replying anyway :) Till the results...... |
