OMAN ATC Numbers!!!
Does anyone know what staff numbers they are after? Pay, conditions and visa's required etc?
|
The answer is....yes!
You just have to ask the right questions:p |
The numbers required are anything between 20-50, depending on who you talk to. We certainly need them for leave, resectorisation and development training.
Pay 3000 RO per month (approx AUD 10,000 per month tax free) Visa issued to you if they select you. Area rated only. Conditions, etc from [email protected] Good luck; it's a great place to work. |
Thankyou very much.
|
YES...Oman need controllers !!!!....well, that is the official word and they have just recruited 4 with another 4 ( rumoured ) to be on the way. However, they have also just sacked one, OFFICIALLY....contract not to be renewed....reason, none given ( they can do that !!! ) !!!!!...rumour is he wrote a report poo-pooing a procedure but someones nose was out of joint over it and has managed to use connections to effect the "non-renewal ". := ....STILL, it is only a rumour !!!!.....GOOD LUCK !!!!...methinks safer in Abu Dhabi !!!!!....just !!!
|
The salary sounds good but it would attract more people with three return airfares to country-of-origin and an apartment included... if it's true that these are not in the contract...
|
methinks safer in Abu Dhabi !!!!!....just !!! Yes, very funny!! How many sacked in Oman in, say, the last 2 years, versus the number sacked in A.D.? ps- saw a good puppet show today. Reminded me a lot of A.D. |
ferris
word is u left atc for 'greener' pastures, wonder why? Sacked in AD, rumour has that in the last, oh let's think, 2 years the guys chose to leave? case of sour grapes mr ferris? |
Here we go with the sour grapes thing again.
Seriously, is that the best, most well thought-out response you can come up with? They are simple questions: How many controllers have been sacked from employment in the last 2 years in AD? How many have been sacked from Oman? Why not let the readers decide? I realise it's a bit unpalatable for these topics to be raised, but people considering taking the plunge need to understand the situation. Now, you can't have it both ways- either people were sacked, or they weren't i.e. they 'chose' to leave. Squeezing them until they 'choose' to leave by being sacked- there's a great way to man-manage!! Go to the ME forum and watch the pilots responses change from when they first arrive to after a few years. Mr Pete- you can wonder all you like about why I left atc, but if the 'greener pasture' part of your statement is lost on you, then so be it. |

Answers 0 and 1. Let's get vercingetorix on here to verify the numbers- the stupid little git would only be too happy to crow about his (:hmm: ) handiwork. Let's see... me, the yank, half a dozen or so Malaysians (or don't they count?) the dawg, B McG- you do know the puppet-dwarf sacked him in a typically cowardly low-act, don't you? There's probably more, but how's that for starters? You are either sacked or you take the option to leave, it can't be both. Anyone care to say who it was that the upstanding doyen of honesty and truth, Charley I'm-alright-Jack-quick-hide-I-might-have-to-do-some-work, let go? |
Now now boys but thanks for the info. How many are leaving Oz for Oman? There are plenty from NZ and still more to follow I hear.
Silly Idea to try and change the world over there. Just 'pay me' and shut up is the best policy. Don't 'pay me', just leave. It doesn't get any simpler than that! ;) |
I dont usually get involved in these debates but here goes......
Who got sacked from abu dhabi? Not you Ferris... you left in a hurry with a lot of bank debts when you had that incident with Iran, the different QNH, etc, which you decided to run from. You could still be working here if you acknowledged that you erred by not factoring in the different QNH when handing over traffic to Tehran. The Yank....he was fired. He struggled through his training and 15 mins after he checked out he had a another incident. Time to go. The malaysians all failed to perform when ojti came around. Too many incidents during training, ask any of the instructors. They just could not handle the complexities of this air space. Were they sacked or did they fail in the trial period? Not sure who the dog is. I'm guessing its a canadian who is now in Bahrain. Well, he got pissed off losing his 2000 dirhams call out fee when he had to reschedule his annual competency check. He chose to fail his competency check on purpose and therefore left of his own accord. As for B McG. I know that he had a career break from his home country. He had to make the decision to completely cut his ties from there and set up in abu dhabi long term or not. He chose to return to his home country where he had job security, great conditions of work, etc. Therefore he left of his own accord. I dont have any info for Muscat ACC.... |
Even a TOWER CONTROLLER, Abu, knows there have been sackings (hey, Pete, there are even some clues in his post about how one can 'choose to be sacked'- ask a native english speaker to explain it;) ). So, hopefully, that will help some people make decisions, knowing not only how tenuous your employment is, but the lengths they will go to to deny and distance themsleves. 0 sackings?
Alas, Abu, you should know better than to believe everything you hear! Ask BMc to explain the circumstances of his sacking- an excellent insight into the character of the puppet-dwarf! At least find out who the dawg is, if you are going to pretend to speak with authority. Ask anyone who actually works at the centre. Preferably, do it before you post next time- it'll help your credibility. the different QNH, etc, which you decided to run from. You could still be working here if you acknowledged that you erred If only it was all black and white (just like home, hey abu), it would make 'getting involved in the these debates' so much easier! |
hey ferris long time no hear (thank God) if the grass was so much greener away from atc why the move back to asa on return home??? and only lasted, what 6 mths? management catch on to you?
ps hsbc, abn amro, et al keep calling, have passed on you forwarding address to them....... pps how is the glass washing industry? or have you gone back to being a screw??:ok: has ansa dropped in to collect his summons papers over a beer at your pub in melb(or did the pub fall through)?? |
Gee, that was quick! 2 minutes!
Does it really eat you that bad that others have the gumption to get off their arses (touchy area for you, I know, but apt)? Summer was rough for you, eh? I'll have a beer for you.:ok: (might even wash the glass, too.) If I want a laugh, I just think.... Notso and his gimp don't make my roster. Still no word on who got chopped? |
EXCUSE ME !!!!!!!...the thread is "Oman ATC numbers "...if you girls want to carry on with your limp-wristed, shoulder-tapping, girlie slaps GO SOMEWHERE ELSE !!!!!!!.... I was after info ( verified or otherwise )on WHY a station is actively recruiting on one hand while firing with the other !!!!!...not this OLD OLD OLD stuff about the past !!!!!....For info, there has only been 1 controller sacked in Oman in the last ten years ( that has been made common knowledge anyway ) !!!!!!.....WHY !!!!!!?????!!!!!...AND AS PER THIS THREAD, THIS WILL HAVE A DIRECT BEARING ON OMAN'S ABILITY TO GET THEIR NUMBERS UP OR, I SUGGEST, EVEN MAINTAIN THEIR PRESENT LIST !!!!!!!!....answers to refer to the thread.....PLEASE !!!!!
|
Way to go guys, ive read some pretty petty arguements on my time working with the internet, but this about tops it.
Enough to put any potential ATCO off the job if some of you are the type of people id be working with. |

I can't believe nobody cares about my mug! :hmm:
|
c2c, 1 got asked to leave a few years ago for reasons outside of work and the other didn't get his contract renewed so just the 2 and yes they are recuiting as much as possible so dont know the reason for the non renewal. only people who would know are those involved. for the rest of us its just another "middle east moment" that cant be explained but should be rememberd for future reference.
DD as they say if you cant take a joke, dont join! now can we get back to the ferret sorry ferris bashing?????? ferris summer was great thanks. drank some beer, ate great food went to gym/beach...oh yeh and i was employed. so not sure waht you are implying there??? roster 6 on 4 off with no short changes suits me fine, better then oz. this gumption of which you speak, is it the same gumption endowed upon you when ASA refused point blank to employ you as an atc and also refused to give you fulltime employment in the training annex? sounds more like backed into corner so better find something to support wife/kids and make it sound like your own idea. and no answer to the questions?? have not changed there either. how does it go? -if they agree with you = legend. -if they disagree = management stooge, slanderous etc etc. -if they ask questions that you dont like = ignore question and insult or imply character faults, threaten them with being served for slander. -if they like middle east = spineless serco loving morons who have no other choices but to stay here. i think that pretty much covers 98% of your posts. ps did you hear that the banks here are now selling their debts to collection agencies from defaulters country of origin?:ok: |
Hail ! Hail ! The Gang's All Here!!
Nurse! Nurse! Set up the colonic flush system....Ferris and Burj are coming to tea.... |

C2C Take a chill pill
C2C calm down...every body in these parts knows every one else. It is called friendlyish banter...if you can't take it, perhaps you are one of the new sensitive new age controllers? What you from Melbourne?:ugh:
In point of fact there was a "gentleman" who did a runner out of Muscat back in 98/99. Can't remember if he was given the 24 hours to leave, but he certainly bolted, came back and was basically escorted to the door of the aircraft. The guy that you refer to as being given the flick in Muscat has a back up plan...rumour has it that it starts on Dec 5th (a day that will almost live in infamy) in a place that many inhabiting this board work or worked. Much as it grieves me, I must agree with WO B...especially the bit about not toeing the ferris line, that chap has some serious issues about back chat. Wouldn't have liked to have been under his supervision in Jika Jika.:= Never met the fe++ poorly spelled, but have felt the lash of his warm and caring style in the past. Found this reference: Short Man's syndrome (thanks to Urban Dictionary) An angry male of below average height who feels it necessary to act out in an attempt to gain respect and recognition from others and compensate for his abnormally short stature. Also synonomous to little man syndrome. You all play nicely now, remember most of us can prune at work, some that wash dishes have to wait for the desk at the internet cafe. Perhaps the washer of glasses knows where foxy's cup is? |
Could somebody pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease go and look for Fox's damn mug. Can not stand his whining anymore. Next time stop at 40 beers Fox!! :O
|
Well, the mug question is easy.
We're holding it hostage until foxy returns to Muscat. Why would you want to live in a vast parking lot anyway??!! |
Now now Duck, don't you go being economical with the truth- you neglected to mention the photo of Notso accompanying that dictionary reference. It's especially funny to those who work across the corridor from him when he slings the term at others, because it's one of his nick's.
As to my ppruning- I only try and counter some of the blatant advertising and one-sided BS that appears here from time to time. Sure, I pprune hard. I don't start negative threads- just balance. Take this thread for example. Is that really a fair statement (that the only recent sacking has been in Muscat and it's 'safer' in AD) to feed prospectives? It's utter BS. Now, Mr. Bentley. Sad, really, yet insightful, that you casually refer to a colleague losing his job as "for the rest of us its just another "middle east moment"". Shrug your shoulders and forget about it all, if it helps you sleep. Too bad if you don't like my posting style, but it might help if you did more than attack the man, hypocrite. You do realise that exactly 25% of your posts are about me? One of the reasons I post so emphatically is displayed in your post sounds more like backed into corner so better find something to support wife/kids and make it sound like your own idea. Fox knows full well his mug is having a rest in Malaysia. It left before me. |
who needs mugs when plastic cups will do? stop whining foxy, take another plastic cup.
Speaking of things missing where's ferris, must be his day off? Mind you, now that he has no one doing his roster he hasn't the time off anyway. I must agree with WOB, right on the button.:ok: RiP |
Hey ferris
Nothing wrong with your posting style, only problem is no one agrees with you! The soap box broke a long time ago, you have left ATC (or should I say sacked) on your own terms or not....nobody is actually sure anymore. Isn't there a bartenders chat forum you can join? Just think no one there will know you and you can try and bullsh!t them as well. How long will you be there before you CHOOSE to leave? |
To all the guys from Oz and NZ looking to come here. You have the package details. You can decide for yourself whether it is in your interests financially to come here.
As far as sackings etc. for the most part if you can keepem apart, and you realise you have to watch your asse (cos noone else is), you will be fine. Bit of advice though. Come here to separate traffic, full stop. Don't bother doing extra duties and going the extra mile. All you will end up with is a kick in the guts and a bad taste in your mouth. Plug in, plug out, and count your money over a cold beer. Hope you all enjoy the experience, because despite a lot of the negative stuff on here, if you follow my advice above, there is a lot to enjoy. It really is good fun here, cheers.:ok: |
Unbelievable
Airno,
If you fell into a barrell of Ti:mad: s. You'd come out sucking your thumb. I take my hat off to you. I have never met anyone as optimistic in my entire life . where do you get your inspiration from ? ...................... |
Burj, I wouldn't say I am optimistic, I am far from it at the moment. I am a realist. For the Aussies and the Kiwis, they can stay where they are and continue making there good salary and paying a huge chunk of it to the government in income tax, capital gains tax, GST, stamp duty, state sales tax, etc etc etc etc. OR... they can take the bit between the teeth and come somewhere where they can have a great time, work some really busy traffic (and I mean really work the traffic rather than be part of a sausage factory), and if they are smart make some really good money.
If you read my full post, you would see I am far from inspired at the moment, but I can see the big picture, and after weighing up the positives and the negatives I find it is best for me to stay. And that is exactly what every person thinking of coming here or already here has to do on a regular basis. When the negatives become too great then get out before you become bitter and twisted, like what has happened to some on these forums. |

AIRNO is the LEAD VOCALIST, and enjoys singing and dancing because it makes him HAPPY. He is also a MAGICIAN and performs AMAZING TRICKS. AIRNO SAYS '' NOT ALL OF MY MAGIC TRICKS WORK,BUT THEY ARE STILL ALOT OF FUN.'' HE wears a pin striped blue shirt , navy pants and a very kind smiling face.:) |
Ok Burj, lots of pretty pictures and you really do fancy yourself as a comedian, but all that doesn't really help the guys looking to come out to the sand pit from Oz and NZ. Maybe rather than being a clown, you could outline all the negatives of working in the Middle east, which they can then balance up with some of the positives I have pointed out, and then they can make the decision for themselves. That is called constructive.
And I think you'll find you chose the wrong wiggle. I have always been told I look more like this one, but thanks for trying. http://www.b-eye-network.com/blogs/m...ves/murray.bmp |
ferret sorry ferris keep getting the 2 mixed up
Sad, really, yet insightful, that you casually refer to a colleague losing his job as "for the rest of us its just another "middle east moment"". Shrug your shoulders and forget about it all, if it helps you sleep. 25%. i amaze even myself that i have spent so much time on you but when i see that its only 2 posts(now 3) it puts it all into perspective..... You either don't know the facts, or are deliberately misrepresenting them. I realise that you, like too many others I have met, have no concept of a life without ATC, or even someone to employ them check the law regarding civil (and criminal) cases across international boundaries and still no answer to the questions...........:ok: |
cross between the 2
either way . 2 happy smiley chaps oblivious to reality.
negatives coming up...... WHO'S WOB? |
Does Hitler(RJ) still run the show in Abu dhabi with his two side kicks Dumb(notso) and Dumber(JvH)?Well I am sure glad I got out of there when I did!!!
That piece of airspace with tehran to the noth east is an accident waiting to happen. To say .... "you had that incident with Iran, the different QNH, etc, which you decided to run from"....Is an understatment. Two sectors bordering on each other that have different Transition Lvl's with crappy radio and radar coverage. Ferris incident wasnt the first to happen(he was maybe the first to open his mouth about the crappy procedures there!!!!:D ) there and I think there will be alot more happening there with the crazy increase in traffic numbers in the ME! Why does everyone in Abu Dhabi talk about greener pastures?? WoB wrote....roster 6 on 4 off with no short changes suits me fine, better then oz. I always though it was 6 on sleep day and 3days off,has that changed??Cause if it hasn't don't try tell me that your sleep day is a day off.You work 2night shifts in a row which is the tought shift alot of AC very little break's u need the sleep day and 1or2 days off just to recover!! Peace:ok: |
