Wycombe suffer from being at the 'bottom of the ladder' when recruiting ATCOs. Once upon a time when LTCC/LACC were at West Drayton, there was a ready supply of part timers keen to keep an ADC rating going instead of just TC or Area Radar, but with the move to Swanwick, this supply dried up.
Nowadays they suffer from people straight out of Global or other colleges getting jobs there, then being 'headhunted' as soon as they reach C of C standard by other airports who offer them sponsorship for APS ratings.
Probably Redhill suffers the same and indeed any other airfield which is ADC only or ADC/APP.

I recall the introduction of Nats secondary employment regulations had more than a little to do with it...

Not quite true. NATS placed a ban on 'licensed' secondary employment. As employment is work for which one is paid the NATS Wycombe controllers controlled for free but charged for their break time as air traffic assistants ie not licensed. NATS were not happy but, in general accepted it. The airfield still has NATS ATCOs but apart from one, they are retired. A challenging but satisfying place to work.

Yeah; between the apron and the powered aircraft runways is the effectively non-radio glider strip to cross!!

Blackpool Airport is looking for an experienced Air Traffic Control Officer to join the ATS team.
Prospective applicants must hold a European Union Air Traffic Controller Licence issued in accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/340 (with current or recently validated ADI and APP endorsements) and an English Language proficiency endorsement of level 4 or above.
Experience working a busy IFR/VFR mixed traffic workload in Class G airspace would be a distinct advantage. Other desirable qualifications include OJTI and MET OBS certificates
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Basic Disclosure security check, have the right to live and work in the UK and hold an appropriate Driving Licence.
The position commands a highly competitive remuneration package commensurate with the expected experience of the successful applicant.
Blackpool Airport is entering a new and exciting era; a new ILS has just been commissioned, with further major equipment changes and facilities improvements planned.
If you would like to be considered, send your CV and covering letter to me at [email protected].

ATSA

Hello All,

Could anyone shed some light on ATSA terms and conditions for employment at one of the larger airports in the UK? Feel free to PM, if preferred.

Many thanks,

Doc
