True. The IPCS/IPMS/Prospect rep at Farnborough was often arguing with ATCOs Branch hierarchy because of decisions they took which were detrimental to Farnborough ATCOs interests, station banding being one subject.

kcockayne 22nd Apr 2018 13:08

As a Watch Supervisor at EGJJ I sat on the Executive Committee of the Civil Service Association representing ATCOS & other Civil Servants. There was no confliction of interest & I don’t think anyone who knows me would accuse me of being a “management lackey” ( whatever else they might think of me !) The joint Chairman was the head of the Immigration Service. Nowadays, the Association is affiliated to Prospect but I have no idea if any ATC management are involved in it. There is, in my opinion, no reason to suggest that anyone in a management role would not be able to properly represent the “ workers “ in negotiations with the employers.

What vacancies are we talking about again?....

Gonzo 22nd Apr 2018 16:16

Agreed. Perhaps if people want to talk about the effectiveness of Prospect, they could start another thread? If unit banding is the issue, perhaps starting a thread in the NATS forum might be better.

ZOOKER 24th Apr 2018 19:52

good egg,

Good question.

good egg 24th Apr 2018 20:36

Carlisle (x2)
Southend

ZOOKER 24th Apr 2018 20:45

EGNC for me then, good egg.

Is there a link?

Wick, Kirkwall, Battersea if you prefer?

good egg 25th Apr 2018 20:19

East Mids too

good egg 25th Apr 2018 20:27

It seems there’s a shortage out there...which can only be good news for ATCOs who are looking to move airport.

chevvron 26th Apr 2018 06:33

FISO vacancy at Shobdon.

Cleared For A Coffee 26th Apr 2018 20:35

If anybody fancies earning £12k less than East Mids or £8k less than Southend then Liverpool are looking...

jinglejangles 27th Apr 2018 16:29

Is that 12k less once valid in 2 different radar positions? Ill pass.

Cripes 28th Apr 2018 20:11

I was looking at getting back up to the NW where I'm from but things look particularly turbulent at Liverpool after making some enquiries:

You can earn more at sister unit Durham than if you have Liverpool TWR, Radar and Doncaster Radar ratings. Confusing.
Pension is 6% !
Last 3 vacancies unsuccessfully filled.
Single man night shifts H24
Prospect 'blocked'.

Looks like things have fallen way behind. Shame.

How does one ‘unsuccessfully’ fill a vacancy? Do you mean 3 people were taken on and failed to validate?

Cripes 29th Apr 2018 10:08

1 unsuccessful, 1 other vacancy from June(?) last year physically hasn't been filled. I'm not sure about the other one, could be either. And then you've had a few leave for Manchester and I don't know what they're doing about that.

rodan 29th Apr 2018 18:24

Liverpool looks to have its head in the sand with regards to the current job market. There are others, of course - some other medium sized airports in the North spring to mind.

If these units want want to attract and retain quality staff, then they will have to wake up and smell the same coffee that appears to have been served nice and hot at Southend.

DeanCross 2nd May 2018 11:22

ANS still advertising for Gatwick and Edinburgh - any ideas on the salary and T+C etc for Edinburgh?

good egg 2nd May 2018 18:31

SATCO Stornoway.....maybe Inverness/Dundee in time though. Anyone know a tentative timeline for HIAL RTC?

ZOOKER 2nd May 2018 19:03

Hopefully never if common-sense kicks in.

There’s a possible timeline in HIAL ATM strategy document on page 20 if you can make any sense of it.

That certainly saved me wading through 243 pages :ok:

good egg 2nd May 2018 20:24

And Zooker, surely it’s worth due diligence?

ZOOKER 2nd May 2018 21:35

Nah,

If it ain't broke, don't mend it. :ok:

Anyone any idea how much a decent gaff in Hong Kong will set you back? The salaries for vacancies have been released and accommodation allowance is about 30k HKD a month. Does anyone know if there's vacancies still?

From my research, it depends on where you want to live. A semi decent sized 3bd in Discovery Bay would be between $40-$50k / month. Accommodation in HK is insanely expensive.

I think NATS are still advertising on their website.

Any chance you can PM me the package details?

Romeo_Fox 17th Jun 2018 08:50

Could someone PM me some details for the Hongkong vacancies as well please? Is there someone here that works out there?

General_Kirby 20th Jun 2018 21:59

There doesn't seem to be a quick fix for this. The shortage is here and it only looks like it's getting worse. There are whole swathes now who can retire on a whim having taken their pension out. Does anyone have any bright ideas?
