My informant didn't tell me but I read later that SERCO had been removed after a short time and a different contractor took over.

So it’s probably not happening anywhere in a way it wasn’t already happening last century.

I understand where you’re both coming from completely, you’re concerned about safety. The methods and practices may have changed over time, but the same ethos that makes you question these things is still very much instilled in the “modern ATCO”. As Roger That said, the workforce is still keen to “work safely [to] make stuff like this work”. We wouldn’t be doing it otherwise.

Predannack is controlled remotely from RNAS Culdrose.(not a lot of people know that) but as far as I know, they do not do both airfelds using the same controller(s)

Comparatively recently some Liverpool controllers were tri-rated. Tower and Approach at Liverpool, and Approach for Doncaster. An interesting rostering challenge to ensure appropriate time plugged in each position!

Doncaster Radar being done from Liverpool Radar room, though I think?

It would be interesting to know what the OP was meaning, was it separate validations, or holding validations in two separate locations?

Correct, I was thinking validated rather than validated and plugging in at different physical locations.
