Changing approach type
If you clear me for an ILS approach and I request to change it to a LOC DME approach, does that present any particular difficulties at the ATC end? Does it matter to you which procedure I am following? Assuming I am observing minima, etc., correctly.

There might be an impact in terms of other traffic underneath your approach. Other traffic may be operating on routes 1000ft beneath the ILS glide slope. Removing that precision vertical guidance might mean that the other traffic cannot be routed beneath you while on a Loc/DME.
Give ATC as much warning as you can.
