Isles of Scilly Recruiting
I don't know HD, but I'm sure that he was only trying to be humorous. Please don't be quite so keen to take umbrage when "old timers" try to lighten the atmosphere.

We don't profess to be air traffic experts. In fact after 47 years air trafficking I don't think I have ever met one…
Time for another pub crawl in Hugh Town, methinks…
Have fun!

Addendum to my last.
To put your thinking in perspective as an anology regarding musical composers: Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, etc, are to be regarded as past it and therefore worthy of your contempt because they are no longer contemporary or, even as you suggest, because they are several generations previous? Bit of a "Dull Bugger" premise there.
Cheers.
To infinity and beyond and, hopefully, back in time for a pint of Guinness.

Plaz,
don't forget that Dinosaurs were some of the most successful animals ever to have lived, - 170,000,000 years they lasted. That's not bad in my book. If the K-T impactor had missed The Earth, chances are they would still be around today, and with another 65 million years of evolution under there belts, bigger and better than ever.

You seem to be a chum of HD .If he wants to be "humorous" teach him to use smileys....or think before he posts.
He has the unfortunate knack of appearing arrogant and dismissive on occasion. Probably not what he intends ,but ,it does happen.
As to the job on offer there are MANY ATCO' s who would LEAP out of bed to do that job.
Speaking personally I would have loved the opportunity.

Or you could get some practice beforehand:
alesofscilly.co.uk.
Then, start at the Mermaid, on to the Atlantic, a couple of pints of Tribute in the Bishop & Wolf and a visit to the Old Town and Porthcressa Inns if anyone can still walk that far!
That job is looking very appealing.

Hi Verci I still like the old composers. In my family there is a combined 95 years of Air Traffic Control experience and some great stories. That said, I am sure that Mozart would not try and tell DJ Debris how to drop a sick Bass Line.
What is Theakstone's by the way? Can we obtain it in sand land?
ZOOKER 170 million years and did not invent the wheel? Sounds dominant

An interesting point plaz. Given that land-based vegetation first appeared during the Silurian period, but flowering plants and grasses only appeared in the Cretaceous…..Were there any Mesozoic vegetables? Triassic broccoli, or Jurassic carrots? What about spring onions, eh? When did they evolve?
Don't even get me started on The Cornubian Batholith.

OTB, negative.
Fraggle Rock is, (allegedly), about 71nm NW of the WAL VOR.
If the Cornubian Batholith hadn't been emplaced when it was, this thread, this job, and even The Scilly Isles would not exist.

Nah, Zook, that'd be in the sea, doh.
Fraggle Rock is 250 degrees 'ish/ 23nm 'ish from the LND VOR and it's Innland from the sea; just!
Fraggle Rock Bar, Bryher, Isles of Scilly, (01720)422222
Start with a crab double-decker and a pint of Doom Bar and life improves dramatically from there.
Now where did I put that application form for SATCO Scillies? And here's me with a 424 validation and three hands. I'll bring that kit from the museum that they don't know what to do with. Job in the bag!

That is excellent.
Fraggle Rock is what I, and several of my colleagues used to call a small tax-haven in a now-closed ATC Sub-centre's AOR. EGNH often referred to it as 'Alcatraz', but that was cruel.
P.S the 71 nm bit came about from a report into a minor air-proxette, lost way back in the mists of time. A bit like the Dinosaurs.

Plaz, negative to being a chum of HD but certainly to being a colleague.
A good lad.
Is that three 30 Yr olds + combined, or one 95 yr old operating since the the days of the Wright Bros? (N.B. I first flew in the right hand seat of a DC 3 when 8 Yrs Old)
Regarding the wheel of time it is surely time to accelerate as:
Dubai AirShow.
Etihad was the first to lay down a marker at the event: a $25.2B deal for 56 new wide-bodied Boeing aircraft, including 25 777X Boeing at a combined price tag of $55.6 billiones, 17 of the biggest 777-9X variants and eight of the 777-8X version,
Dubai's EmmRats that revealed the largest order with a $76B deal for 150 Boeing 777X planes, plus an additional 50 Airbus A380s, worth $23 billion, to bring its order of the super jumbo up to 101.
Where are you going to put them in an airspace that is approx 200 Nms left to right and usable approx 60 Nms north to south.
Time to get up to the speed of HD and others.
Good luck with that.
To infinity and beyond and, hopefully, back in time for a pint of Guinness (Not Theakstone's).
