Addendum to my last.
To put your thinking in perspective as an anology regarding musical composers: Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, etc, are to be regarded as past it and therefore worthy of your contempt because they are no longer contemporary or, even as you suggest, because they are several generations previous? Bit of a "Dull Bugger" premise there.
