ATCO -> PPL
Hey guys,
I started this in the Private forum, but thought there'd be one or two kind colleague types who could help here too ....
I'm a valid ATCO, I've got a current Class 2 medical and I know that I am exempt from the RT exam. Just wondering if there are any other exams that I do not have to do given my prior aviation qualifications?
Thanks
SP.

With all due respect, why not consult CAA if you cannot easily find the answer? Are you seriously going to trust any response that you get on a public forum?

I know I'll be kept right when I get into it ... and I've found the answer with Google and a little wading through docs - CAP 804 to be specific.
Though it was kinda what I was trying to avoid at 10pm on a Thursday with a glass of red next to me!!
I would never trust a forum response ... but it can put you in the right direction.
Aslong as you avoid the trolls!!

In Spain (also EASA world) you get no exemptions, you have to do ALL the exams (including RT). It's not a big deal anyway, as you don't really have to study either for RT and Law and you'll be very familiar with the content of the rest of the subjects.
When it comes to flying, being an ATCO is a big bonus. Many learning pilots are more worried about speaking to ATC and procedures than with the actual flying.
Good luck and enjoy the flying!

Pumuckl - nothing has changed, still exempt from the RT theory ... but will have to do the practical. Got a mate who can sort that though and it's not going to challenge - or will it?! Aldegar - cheers chap!! Looking forward to getting back into the cockpit!
