Hello!

Am I the only one who doesn't have a date for the test? I applied online because last year and before that I did the same way (yes, it's gonna be the 3rd time I apply) and I haven't received any email nor anything else. I'm starting to worry. Is there anyone here who applied online and have date or something?

Let's say the fail-rate on the FEAST is about 90% or greater - it is the same everywhere they use it - maybe they meant it. On the course of course not. That is why the selection is so tough, to ensure that the people get in will successfully finish it. Guarantee... There is no guarantee for being successful on the course. You have to think about it a lot. The course is hard, the simulator is even harder, you have to rest as much as you can and of course you have to be focused with 150%... There would be no excuse if you cannot perform well enough. But after all of these...

Hi Everybody,

I've applied this year as well but I still have around 2 weeks until the first round. So good luck everybody till then!!!

Tamás and Dávid:

- Is it true that all your subjects are taught in English?
- Can you tell me how many girls are at the current course? And how many women are working as Air Traffic Controller at HC?
- After finishing the course how long does it take to work with a tutor as a "trainee"? (e.g. some months or even a year)?
- When did your course start last year? (august or later?)

Thanks a lot in advance for your answers!

p.s.:
Willand: Why don't you call the HC HR and ask them what's the problem??? You seem to be very patient...

Yes, you're right, I'm very patient. Since 20th Apr is the deadline I thought I had time to be patient but yesterday they sent me an email they'd give me a date today. (now I'm not so patient) I was just curious if others had the same problem.
I can answer some of your questions. At the interview they told me the course was going to start in Sept, 3 weeks of English (prepare for the course), then the course itself, totally in Eng for the 1st year, the 2nd one in Hun. But this should be confirmed by the ones who are actually in the course.

Yaman, the SDM was replaced by DART at EC so I guess it should be at HC as well, and in the mail I received yesterday they wrote FEAST had been changed. So I'm pretty sure you won't have to do SDM.
This could be a good news because some say DART is easier.

Cheers

The selection process needs a lot of patience, maybe even more You have to understand that it's hard to manage 4-5-6 houndred applicants... i wasn't patient either but it will be a good memory to remember...
You have to spend 400hrs on OJT with an instructor before you can work alone (about - hopefully 8 months or so)...

And there are about 8 girls working here in the OPS room, there are about maybe 10 more in the TWR, and I think there are 4 at the course, but Tamas can correct me... So we need girls

Thanks for your quick answers and information. I'm still waiting for the confirmation e-mail for the selected exam date, but then I'll be patient as well! And I'll do my best to improve the rate of girls at the team.

Hello!

Yes I can confirm, that there are 4 girls in the course.

It is true, that all of our subjects are in English, even our books, and hand-outs, power point presentations are in English. We have to write the tests in English as well.

Our course started on the first week of September. I think it will be the same this year.

The course consists 3 big phase. During the first year you will learn all the necessary theoretical things, and you will practise the job in a fictiv airspace. The second part of the training will be about the Hungarian airspace, you have to know all the procedures. The third part is the on the job training, when you are working in the real ops. room, controlling the real traffic. Of course an instructor is sitting behind you, and watching everything. If you screw up something than he/she will take over the controll. After this you will recieve your license, and you are allowed to work without an instructor.

Davidgkovacs! How many aircraft you have to handle at the same time a, in the simulator b, in reality?

Hi everyone,

This was indeed the big day for me, Yaman! I was really calm before and even during the first part of the test, because I knew my chances were really slim. But I found the second part really hard and stressful, and I was certain of my failure. Everyone was allowed to proceed with the tests in their own paces, but I think by 11 am everyone was done. Overall, it was a thrilling experience, and I met a lot of nice people.
Then, following an approx. half-hour evaluation each of us was invited into a room where a friendly guy (I forgot his name because I was still under shock ). Apart from one exercise (where I was close to the minimum requirement) I performed exceptionally well. But I don't dare to celebrate yet, as I was burnt last year just like this at university: failing at the very last step of the admittance process.
Out of 15 or so people 4-5 of us passed today. And according to rumours by this day around 700 people applied in total.
Next stop: DART test either on Wednesday or Thursday.

Good luck to everyone who is yet to take the test!
Tips to pass: drink 1 (!) beer with a good friend the preceding evening; sleep well; relax!; remain confident when you are scared s**tless during the second part ; keep walking: Johnnie Walker!

Hello!

Congratulation Omark! Keep doing this way

I think that the number of aircraft what you have to control at the same time doesn't matter. 6 aircraft at the same time can give you a really hard time if the situation is complex, and next time with a little bit easier traffic situation you can deal with 10-12 planes at the same time.

Could you describe it? (how many questions, how much time per question, etc.)

Thanks.

Hi, Everybody!
I'm in a trouble as I lost the connection with this forum because I didn't get any notification.
Anyway... Grats, Omark!!
But which is the DART test?

I had to went to the HC in order to meet the cartographer of the firm last Wednesday.
That was my first experience at the HC but it was wonderful since everyone was so kind and - so to say - "funny" and the athmosphere was as friendly as I had imagined before.
Actually I saw a guy in the hall who came to a test in my opinion - although he was alone. I wanted to ask him but I couldn't guess a good question... We'll meet again

I wish good luck for everyone and we meet next year - I promise my English wilol change for the better by that time... And I wish we could "hear" the experiences of more applicants!

Hello Everyone,

I sent my application also to HC,but as I don't have the Complex "C" english language proficiency certificate, they didn't accept my application, but I have the possibility of a "failure replacement"

Hopefully I'll get a chance too

Good luck to Everyone!!

Question application

Hi,

I have applied, and sent my CV on the 12th of April. I meet all the requirements, passed 20, high school diploma and advanced level C type English. I have not yet received an answer with a FEAST date. Is it possible that not all of us get called in, who meet all requirements?

Also, anyone who has been through medical, is it a fail possibility that I have a bad tooth? (milktooth :-D) and also in I have a scar on my back, (i had a surgery as a baby) but it does not affect me in any ways (my spine is in good condition) and never had any problems with it. It just looks bad, and sounds more serious then it actually is. What are my approx chances to pass medical? I am not that worried about all other tests, just the ones that doesn't need my brain :-D

Anyone already passed FEAST this year? encourage us, please

Thanks, and have a lovely day all.

Hi,

my FEAST-I coming soon, and I would like to test myself, what are my abilities (roughly). I read there are online games over the net that has some analogy to these tests, but I coudn't really find too much. (Actually, only 1-2, about focused on brain memory.).
Could someone suggest me any games, that gives some picture what can I expect on FEAST?

Thanks in advance.

Feast

Hi Zay!
You can't prepare, the only thing you can improve is the English !
Each task will be told very clearly, you will know what to do,but the english is needed because you have to understand the exercises perfectly and a long story in english.wich contains different accents.

Maybe you can prepare a bit with the help of this game for the ball on the wall test:
Multitask - Play it on Not Doppler
And the other one is the cube test, you can draw cubes folded and unfoldeld way.

After all you have to prove in 6 abilities, and if you fail one of them you are out

Best of luck Zay.
