What I find most worrying at this stage is the imminent arrival of the SWC and all the complications associated with it.

Only 162 odd days till it starts and it seems the ENTIRE executive body is acting (no pun intended). Is this a tap dance to get rid of some folk?

If so, send me a PM, I'll make a few suggestions of where to start!

I see ATNS is now asking the staff if they want to volunteer to buy back off days for 3 times the overtime rate and extra day back.

Wonder what will happen if you don't sign up?

Thumbs down Trap

its a bit of a trap though cause you only get paid if you work over your maximum hours which is what 148 or something.

so its unlikely that you would actually be paid for the days you give back unless your total hours for the cycle go into overtime.

have to read everything those SD people put out twice to make sure you understand otherwise its like the retention contracts that say one thing but mean something totally different.

If you volunteering to give away your off days make sure you going to work full max hours and run into overtime - but wait you have to give them notice before end Jan when no one knows what teh rosters will look like in Jul. mmmm

nope - i think you didn't quite read it correct. you get paid 3 times and overtime if you go over your max hours.

German federation: ticket sales for World Cup in South Africa slow so far

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS (CP) – 4 hours ago

FRANKFURT, Germany — The German football federation says ticket sales for the World Cup in South Africa are slow so far, with travel costs among the concerns.

The federation said Tuesday that 1,916 tickets have been sold to German fans for the group matches against Australia, Serbia and Ghana.

Federation president Theo Zwanziger said a number of factors were behind the poor sales, and that "hotel prices certainly play a role too." Security has frequently also been cited as a concern.

Zwanziger said that "we must use the months until the World Cup to build up confidence."

Federation general secretary Wolfgang Niersbach said the sales were "normal" compared to the 2002 tournament in Japan and South Korea, also an expensive long-haul trip for Germans.

Seems the man has achieved what few CEO's before him has by getting the industry to agree that the Regulator needs to inject some cash into ATNS. 30% plus is no mean feat. Whether the cash will reach us ATC's or go into another "tool" is another question and only time will tell. No mention of any foreigners on their way to our sunny shores in the first session.

Heard that they (management) wan't small station like FAEL must work 24hr during SWC. Don't know how they going to do it with 6 ATC's, I take it that is why they want us to agree with buy back offer. I can see them loosing 2 days off, but what about the duration of their shift per person and their required breaks. Wonder if CAA or even the union will agree to this or will they just get told shut up and work and lets break the law until SWC is over. Hope no bad incidents occur during this time, knowing ATNS they will not support the man.

Another bottle

So it is confirmed, the FAJS Central/East poolmanager is no longer! So we are heading for the WC with no poolmanagers or supervisors and only 2 people on a nightshift! This differ so much from the WC rosters that were designed last year.
No need to fear! As you saw on Carte Blanche,we have tools in place.1. A CAMU tool from the USA 2. A MAESTRO sequencing tool from France incorporated into 3. A RADAR tool from OZ and 4. A SUMS roster tool from NZ. This must be the international help!
No fear but DO NOT FORGET to wear a collar!!
