permanent resident requirement
Hi everyone,
just got this email from ASA
Thank you for your interest in Airservices Australia.
Please provide us with official citizenship/residency proof so that we can progress your application further.

The thing is, I uploaded my visa grant email with my application... Not sure what I can provide them as this is the only proof I have! So I forwarded them a copy of the email and asked if that is sufficient, otherwise, I will have to go get my visa put in my passport.

No phone number provided or someone's name Just recruitment team.. Why do you say they are not Airservices Australia anymore? Did I miss something? I sent them 3 emails back... One explaining the situation, one just forwarding the email from immigration and one authorising them to access my visa info... If that doesn't work, not sure what will? I will go get my visa put in my passport next Friday and then I can email them a copy of that. This is going to delay my application I have a feeling tonight's email should've been about doing the online tests

The good news is, they've acknowledged me and are interested enough to ask for more info

Hi all, been reading this forum for a while trying to get a bit more prepared for the recruitment process. So big thanks to all, this forum's been a massive help.

Hi all,
I placed my application online on 12th June, by the 17th I was asked to complete the online test. I completed the test on the 18th and by the 21st June I was ask to organise a time for a 15 phone interview. Is this strange about the time line so far?

There is nothing strange with your timeline so far. Just good timing of when you submitted your application.
The process moved fast for me in the beginning also (I got the phone interview stuff at 8am after completing the online test the night before) but then it all slowed down after the phone interview. I waited 1.5 months for the assessment day, then another 1.5 months to hear that I had the job. I now have a 6 months wait to start my course because I particularly wanted to do a Tower course, there were much earlier starting dates for Enroute though.

That's great SLS... I think the timeframe depends on how many applications they have to go through. I had to resubmit my application over the weekend since they did not like my proof of residency I originally attached.. So I have to sit back and wait again. Hopefully it's not another 3 weeks again! Good luck with the rest of the application process

Ruth - there was only 6 people on my assessment day which I believe is standard. The way its run, any more than 6 wouldn't work! And yes, you need to fund your own flights/accom/transport if required!
Good luck and don't stress out too much before hand, it's not really a day you can 'study' for. And no you don't need to bring anything!

Online tests
Hi all i have just been asked to complete the online testing for ASA, im just wondering how intense these are and what i should brush up, Im confused as to weather they are as hard as the actually testing center or just a bit of profiling, please let me know so i can prepare

I'm pretty sure I was on the same day as you. I got the call about a month ago but chose Melbourne instead so that was either September or November. Apart from the congratulations email and the medical ones have they actually sent you anything ? - Wonder how many others from our day made it through....

You are such a party-pooper Steve I also brushed up on my time, distance speed questions and not 1 was asked during the entire process! Shame to let everyone else in on the secret that they are no longer asked!
Stick with the Lumosity and you can't go wrong. There are no guarantees that it will help but at least you will have fun doing it.

Planning very far ahead!
Hi to all,
I'm a newbie on the thread and obviously want to follow the career path of ATC. From researching these forums, hitting up current ATCs and looking through various websites I believe it will be a great career path. I've just moved to Brisbane and have at least 2 years of Partner Visa paperwork and bureaucracy to wait just until I can apply for a position (not just ATC, pretty much any job post requires the candidate to be either a citizen or a permanent resident). Frustrating but completely understood with the cost of training etc.
So I have at least two years of research for the position to hopefully get into the top 1/3/5% of applicants which is often quoted. I have a good background in Mathematics (A grade at year 13 or A-Levels as they are in Britain). And a Degree BSc in Geography. My questions are what would you suggest as a good way to go. I'm looking at IQ tests and psychometric tests constantly along with playing ATC games! I have seen in another forum that the book and interactive DVD "Air Traffic Control Career Prep" by Patrick Mattson is worthwhile. Any reviews here? I know that it is widely said not to do much preparation but for myself with 2 years at least to wait it seems ridiculous not to give myself the best possible chances of getting through quickly!
Secondly, are you aware of any voluntary positions that are generally available to get some experience of being around ATC and to be able to ask questions. I will obviously call my local centre (Brisbane) and try to arrange tours but I see this is difficult without having already got to an Assessment Centre.
Finally, reading Will Advise's FAQ to the process, he mentions Brisbane as training centre, I believe that this is just for the final "in field" process as described on the Airservices website and that the 12 month training solely takes part in Melbourne?
Any help regarding any of this would be much appreciated, I'm excited and just wanting to gain a better understanding, this is also helping me keep trudging through the paperwork for residency!

I’m not sure if I’m the only one in this boat as there seem to be quite a few success stories posted on here of late, but I haven’t heard anything about the status of my application since my March assessment day. And queries about the status of my application seem to be getting stonewalled by recruitment just now...
It’s just all a little disappointing when an organisation which is supposed to be based on swift and accurate decision making, doesn’t feel it necessary to advise candidates of a definitive “yes” or “no” outcome within a reasonable timeframe. I certainly feel as though I’ve kept up my side of the bargain - all the screening, testing and interviews, supplying all requested documentation and personal information, sourcing and forwarding through all qualifications and other requested information, advising referees, and then taking time out of work to complete a full day of further hoop-jumping at the assessment centre.
Surely a courteous and timely response isn’t too much to ask for? Surely?
