They don't seem to be the best at estimating times. Probably double whatever you're told and go from there :P

Angry

Isn't it ironic that the part of the organisation that's responsible for new hires based on their quick judgement and decision making ability isn't all that prompt themselves...

I wonder if there is any stats on how many potential qualified applicants had moved on long before the result is out.

Over a year from application to being told whether you are successful or not is simply a massive joke. If this is how the organisation is ran then I'm seriously having doubt on proceeding even if I end up being successful!

If you look over this thread, you'll find the same waiting post pop up every six weeks or so. It was the same 2 years ago when i applied as it is now. Im not sure if the recruitment team will ever realise how badly they comunicate to the applicants.

From previous posts.

Thanks Yaasb. I'll give them a soon and see if they can't organize (organise) a tour of Tullermarine (Tullamarine) for me. Thanks heaps.

Whilst waiting for results, check your spelling and grammar. One incorrect keystroke in ATC is not just a poor post.

Nicely done Fujii. However, in my post you left out the fact that I left out "Call". In the third post it is "themselves", it's that it supposed to be aren't instead of isn't. And in the next one you change tense half way through.
You check yours too

Room Available

Hi Folks,
I still have one room available for rent in Taylors Hill. Its a nice area and is only about 20 minutes from the airport. There's two of us on the April course so it'll be a good study house (not to mention a good place to relax). There are pics and stuff here Fully Furnished, recently new house. Near shops | House & Flat Share | Gumtree Taylors Hill if anyone is interested...

Cheers all
Kieran

ASA stand at Avalon

G'day All,

I was impressed with the stand provided by ASA at the Avalon exhibition hall yesterday. The new tower system was on display which I believe is the one from Canada was on display. Having been to the Pilot Information Sessions recently in Melbourne Centre, it was great to see and hear the enthusiastic staff at the stand and the genuine experience they offered.

Well worth a look if available on the public days

AoF

P.S. I would imagine the staff at YMAV tower would be in heaven this week

Hey guys,
Anyone starting on April 18 tower course?
Making the big move down to Melbourne at the end of March and looking for somewhere to live. Preferably close to good transport to the city. Also, any locals know if there is any way around NOT having to buy a car for transport to training?

Cheers,
J

j_850,

Your only transport options to training are:

- drive yourself
- car pool
- taxi

hey j_850,

As kieran has posted earlier, he has a room going in a house in Taylors Hill (I'm in the other room ) and we're both on the April 18 course, but in Enroute, but the courses are the same up til a certain point.

I hadn't actually discussed with kieran how he was planning to get to the airport yet, but I have a car and would be happy to car pool (for some petrol money )

Hi J_850
Yeah I do have a room still available, it;ll be a good study house, with fatty 182 and myself in the 18th April Enroute course. You can check it out here: Fully Furnished, recently new house. Near shops | House & Flat Share | Gumtree Taylors Hill
As for getting there, I'm assuming that we'll just car pool each day, make it cheaper and easier for every one.
I think there's buses not too far away and the train take about half an hour to get into the city, but it's not far from the airport which is what I was going for...

Also, while I'm posting mode, did anyone go to the Avalon Airshow? I went on sunday, could have spent all week there...

Later
Kieran

J_180: the only way to the airport besides driving is train into the city and bus back out. There's no direct line from anywhere.

Kieran, made it to the Friday session. Loved it! What's not to love about a B1 fly over and a few simulated bombing runs? Spent about half an hour talking to a bomb disposal guy. That was awesome though I was a little worried that in his stand there was instructions on how to build and improvised bomb.

By far the best part was the night time simulated bombing run of the Hornet. (I think. Might have been a raptor; I couldn't really hear the commentator over the sound of the awesome.)

I was there on sunday, when it came to the bombing run they triggered it a bit early, so the explosions where all going on when the jet was still about 300 meters away... it was all pretty cool though.
And loved the B1 runs, a very imposing piece of kit, wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of it...

accommodation available for new course 18th april

hi i believe a new course starts 18th of april, my two flatmates (ATC trainess) will be finished up just prior to that time though I still have to at least the end of May/early June until course completion. There are 2 rooms in a beautiful appartment Moonee Ponds/Essendon with balcony and views of city (20 mins to work 25 mins to city by tram with stop outside appt) , I also have a car and travel into work each day. Rent is $160 pw so if interested email me [email protected] or 0420571664. PS this would be perfect for initial accommodation for 2 months or the possibility of taking over the lease is also there. thanks for your time

To those starting on the April 18 course, I assume everyone else got the email today with some more info and the news our precourse material should be coming in the post. Very exciting

Yes. The precourse material came before the email actually. In a small envelope. Just big enough for a 4GB Thumb Drive with a whole heap of course documentation. Took a little while to work out what I needed now and what I'll need later, but all sorted now ready to start studying.
