New DXB Package. For a new starter monthly pay including salary and personal allowances is 34k dhs. Housing allowances for those wishing to take Serco accommodation is 140K plus utilities. There are OJT and Supervisory allowances in addition to the above. For those wishing to find their own accommodation and therefore take the allowance it's 180K all in for married/children and 160K all in married or single. In addition the travel allowance (airfares home) and schooling continue to be paid above these figures. The bonus scheme will discontinue at the end of 2008.
So for a new starter 50K per month plus schooling for up to 2 children. The Jan. and Mar. courses are full and one would expect this to continue given the above figures, so snooze and you'll lose if you're sitting on the fence about taking the plunge to pull up stakes from the homeland and try something new. There may shortly be a waiting list.

Tin-Bullet, chill mate it was a joke. The package does sound truly amazing. Congratulations to all up there, and even with the currency ****ting itself I agree there will be a queue a mile long after this, especially from Seffrica and DownUnder.
Anyway its your thread, so I'll bugger off and let you enjoy it. As Foxy said, maybe you could all chip in and send us a bar fridge to put our milk in at the ACC, cos if you are wondering why we are grumpy lately its cos we have spoiled milk in our coffee! Cheers.

Yes, this pay increase is a result of people staying put in Dubai and not because a lot of people have left recently
It's wonderful to know that Serco and DCA have done this to reward the lifers and not because it is needed to attract and keep staff. Let us know when you are returning to the real world

I am genuinely happy for you all on this truly momentous occasion....
Not to spoil the fun though...

Mate, i have been been kicking sand around this place and others through the region for the past decade and I can assure you that Dubai Has, Had and will always have the best deal of the lot, specially in the Serco ranks. Not just remuneration, but having visited your Dubai compound all those years ago with Tennis Courts, Squash, Gyms, Swimming pools bars and restaurant, children play area's and fantastic villas, other contracts paled into comparison with the likes of our 'Burj Al Rumaithy' (cockroach infested stinking squaller!) in Abu Dhabi and similar.
Lets hope that we see a GCC wide ATC industry adjustment to deal with the problems we are ALL facing with exchange rates, inflation and of course the unrelenting air traffic growth in the region.
Your shout Dubai!

Ahhhh yes the sevens, well those who know me will tell you that there is a reasonable chance I will have lost all my personal belongings by day 2 of the sevens and will be a blithering mess, broke and telling all the girls "I love youuuuuu!'
Based on this I may not make the RV at the rugby club but will be in touch when I am released by the local constabulary......

Congratulations to Eric and Robbie for having gone the distance and delivering the goods. This is an unprecidented raise in the ATC community. Hope it raises the bar for all. As of January we will be paid 80% more than today. And to think we used to consider job action to obtain a 2.75% gain! YES, we are all

Congratulations DXB boys & girls on your pay rise,
My short visit home to Oz however has lead me to believe that for Area the 40K/mnth outcome will not be enough. Back home the economy is going gang busters, eg. my 20 year old son is making AU$800 per week as a 4th year cabinet making apprentice.
I have been asked by a mate of mine to renew my marine quals to go back offshore for 3 weeks on 3 weeks off (plus annual leave) starting just short of 6 figures.
All this with 3% inflation (less petrol), unlicenced beer drinking and sane drivers
Bit of thinking to do over the next few months

Congrats on the pay increase!
Suppose with all the nonsense going on @ FAJS and God Bless having a baby about the increase in incidents and not knowing what to do about it or how to manage it I am sure a lot of Joberg controllers are going to think twice about the bonus contract and will happily pay back 3-4 months extra salary and head off to the Middle east - watch out here come loads of resignations again..........

Full or not?
Hi Nodi,
I know a few people that are coming for the January assessment and for the March course so probably yes they are full. I suggest you contact Eric again and try to get a definitive date. Are you really Macedonian? We do have a half Croatian but not a Macedonian as yet. DCA here has a pool of countries from which controllers are selected and the preference always goes to English speaking ones (ie: english mother language) but of course I don't know your case.I'm sure Eric has a handful of applications now and more to come so you need to push yours if you really want to get here. Best of luck!!
