You travel 611 NM. How much fuel will you need if you burn 60 kgs per hour, and are travelling at 705 kts? SOL:52 kgs

Any other faster way of resolving this that isn't doing 611/705= and multiply solution by 60...???????

Thanksss a lot!

I imagine you wouldn't be expected to do this in a non-calculator test? As far as I'm aware the method you used would be the only way after simplifying. 611/705 can be simplified to 13/15 as both are divisible by 47. Unless I'm mistaken; working that out without a calculator would be very difficult. It's simple enough to get to 52 Kgs from 13/15 x 60.

Well as far as I'm concerned problems like this one is what you get in the numerical test and you aren't allowed calculator. It quite bugs me coz I find that resolving problems like that one takes up more time than what you are expected to resolve problems in..

This is at least what I can interpret after reading threads, forums and different web pages. I guess you haven't yet done stage 1, right?

Is that directed at me? If so, I've done stage 1 before yes. And typically the questions are of this nature but can be divisible by an obvious number. I'd not expect to see numbers that in order to simplify, must be divided by 47.

Yeah, it was directed to yo. Thanks for your prompt reply. By saying that there were numbers divisible by an obvious, you mean?, not any bigger than? aprox...,How are you doing with stage 2?. I wish you luck, hope it goes ok.

Stage 1

I have been invited to Stage 1, but it isn't until MAY!!! What is up with that? Only Prestwick, are they no longer doing it down south? Oh well i guess you have to wait for the things you really want!

At the moment I'm still waiting to do stage 1 in June but I previously got to stage 3. I can't give a definitive answer on what multiples to expect but I'd be very surprised to see something as difficult as the example you have given.

There is more demand for places in the south; so you usually have to wait a little longer.

I managed to get a date for stage 1 for 17 June last week. I imagine all the places had been taken up by the time you had been invited to take stage 1. Only the 17th and 24th June were available at the time.

When you complete the test I don't think you get a confirmation email. The same happened to me last week and I had an invite to stage 1 the following day. At first I was a little worried because there was no indication that I'd completed the test. If you are worried about anything then just send them an email.

Thanks Marco.

I have spoken to someone from NATS and they are only using Prestwick for the time being. I am gonna go North then, just wish it was earlier. I too got to Stage 3 last year!

I did the online test last night and got the email this morning!

You travel 31 NM. How much fuel will you need if you burn 6 kgs per minute, and are travelling at 62 kts?

I am genuinely so confused, may be it's the time of the night and I am tired. So thought I'll ask for help from lovely ppruners

reaching prestwick centre

If anyone have tests in prestwick in the morning and going by train donn forget to take some local taxi numbers. U wud find it difficult to get taxi frm there coz its a dual carriageway where u get off frm train. The airport is just opposite but there wudnt be any taxi in the early morning.

In this case we need to work out the time it takes to travel 31 NM if you're travelling at 62 kts. 31/62 = 1/2 Therefore 1/2 x 60 = 30 minutes.

The amount of fuel burned is 30 x 6 = 180 kg of fuel.

Yeah a friend is heading to Prestwick to do his Stage 1 next month - I passed the online test in January and immediately booked on Stage 1 at Swanwick on 17th June (9am) as the only other date was in May is when I'm away on holiday.

Still - gives me time to do plenty of S/D/T calculations and generally get my mental arithmetic back up to scratch.

May see you there Marco! I'm sure you'll breeze through the 3 stages this time fella

So sorry to read your stage 3 news but your attitude is absolutely BRILLIANT go for it again next year, you'll fly through stages 1 and 2 now you know exactly what they are, and stage 3 should go great as you have that amazing feedback and you know what is expected of you/what they're looking for!
May I ask, how many units did you visit before your interview? I have just selected a stage 3 date on May 26th so I have enough time to visit quite a few units I hope!! How useful were the visits, i.e. did anything in the interview come up that these visits helped to answer?

Anyone else have stage 3 on May 26th???

dice

Regarding the dice test of stage 1, what types of dice are they? (just normal dice: black pips, complex pips, arrows, coloured sides, symbols...)

Hi everyone,

First of all, think you for this great forum with a lot of good advice very helpful.
I'm from france and I have some problems to find out which exam is equivalent to your GCSE. I have got the A-level but I haven't got any english certificate.
Do I need to take one? and in this case which one?

Thanks a lot

Get in contact with HR and they will help you out. They took a look at my Swedish grades and within a few hours I had a mail telling me they were good enough for them.

If you go all the way through they will need a certificate that you acctually have those grades (not sure if it has to be translated by an official translator etc) but to apply it's enough to send an email listing your grades and they have some paper they compare it to.
