I am as prepared as I can be I think so just got to hope for the best. Travelling early morning so should have plenty of time.

Thanks for your advice all. I'll apply now while I have a relatively free timetable this semester. Hopefuly I won't have to do any tests/interviews during January exams.

I found out this morning that I passed the initial online test I took yesterday 
and I've booked myself in for Stage 1 at Bournemouth on 12th November 
Personally I think that's too far away
but the only doable option that was closer is this friday!

Hi all,
Got my stage one on Friday in Prestwick. Just setting up my satnav and think it may be out of date.
The postcode for Prestwick isn't coming up. Has anyone else experienced this? I have e-mailed Nikki at HR so hopefully she will get in touch tomorrow.
There is a setting to locate me to 'Prestwick Airport' so I should be ok. Is it hard to find when you get there?
Any help appreciated.

KA92NR - Atlantic House is the place you're looking for.
The vehicle entrance is around the back of the main building, past warehouse buildings. *You may see articulated trucks around, it's near that area*
Once you find the gate just follow it to the control booth and say to the guy you're here for stage 1 assessment. You'll then go to the security booth, get a pass and then drive round to the car park.
If in doubt there are usually a lot of cars heading for the car park if you're going early morning. Easy enough just to follow them.

We'll just miss eachother, I'm there in the 11th. And so far I seem to be the only one from here doing the tests on the 11th, to bad I was hoping for some company (will be sleeping there the 10th-11th so I have some time to spend 
).

Hey Sammy, I live about half an hour from Prestwick. Im booked on the 5/11/2010 stage one there, but my flat mate Jamie is going to the same one as you. The place is really easy to find. Just get there in plenty of time and ask someone in the general vicinity of the airport and you will be alright.
Good luck for stage one, oh and feel free to post on here what it was like and some example questions ( I can get this off my flat mate, but he stoopid! lol )

I thought that was a good date, but just want to get it done now i think!

The aircraft statistics are there for a reason which might not be apparent right now but trust me, it's beneficial to have a rough idea of aircraft size and what types of aircraft fly where.
I'm not going to give much away but suffice to say it'd be good to know what sort of aircraft would be used for a transcontinental flight as opposed to a regional flight from Newcastle to London, for example.
Since I studied Aeronautical Engineering i've always had a big interest in any type of aircraft and generally know most of the models inside out, so these stats weren't surprising to me. It's worth reading over them once or twice though. You wont need too much detail, they wont ask you how many seats a SAAB 2000 has for example.

Can anyone offer any advice about the distances between cities portion of the test? There's no mention of it in the test material NATS provide.... any guidelines would be appreciated!

One thing I'm wondering though is how long is the paper for the S/D/T test? I'm assuming it's the 'basic checking' test? I've been practicing online and can do them, but I'm starting to worry that the time limit for this test is going to be really short and I won't complete them. Are they looking for speed or accuracy?
Any help would be great thanks
Also, has anyone found any extra practice examples for cubing or diagramming?

My online test was only basic checking (you recive a sequence of letters or number and you are to match it to the identical one out of four options given). I have no idea how it went (I belive it went quite bad though) but so far I've not heard of anyone from PPRune failing the online test (pre stage1 test) so I'm not sure it's acctually a "real" test or if it's just for statistics (like comparison to see if the ones who do well on the online test usually go far in the selection process etc).

The online test is as Crazy Voyager explained, Its basically a 6-7 letter or number code, which will be in the top centre of your screen.
4 options will appear and you have to select the correct one which matches the code above.
for example: RTYHUG:
1) RYTHUG
2) RTYHGU
3) HUGRTY
4) RTYHUG
Answer 4 is the correct option, it is basic, but in the near future the tests at a NATS centre will be horrendously hard!!.
This will have to be completed in 9 seconds, and If I remember there are about 5 questions in each section.
(TIP) Look at the end letters and the front letters of the Code, then scan down quickly at the options and find the matching one!!
In regards to the Online Application, fill it out as best you can and be honest, it states to put down all of your GCSE's or other quals. and it also states to put down the ones you failed on, so just be truthful, my GCSE's were terrible 7 A*-C grades and the rest were D's and E's.
In regards to what to expect, look at the NATS website and that will give you everything you need and search on this forum, their will be current and ex. ATC im sure who will guide you.
