Lad on the A320 fleet with AL told me. I think it's a postponement more than a cancellation though.

Yeah delayed rather than cancelled hence the logic of extra classes for cadets returning by 2020 when the delayed 2019 A321LRs meet the 2020 scheduled A321LRs
Great news if it's true for cadets not so good if your are DEP for 2019 but maybe A330's can be found like the one from Qatar - lovely aircraft.
Expansion : complicated but positive.

I got my unsuccessful email today... given that people were being told of their successful application more than a month ago it’s pretty bad they have taken this long to inform people.

I am am trying to surmise why this may have been the case, hopefully thinking I may have been put on a reserve list. Though realistically that may be unlikely. More likely they haven’t got the infrastructure in place to cater for the high volumes of applications. Not fair on those at AL having a huge work load or applicants as how can they sift through so many in a fair and balanced way?

Big downer on the day.

Were people who attended the first week not told they would hear back in max. 2-3 weeks (so latest today)? I guess people will definitely be hearing back next week?

Has everyone who didn't get invited for an assessment day had a response? Or are some still waiting either way?

I’m the same... still heard nothing

It's a group for those who progressed through the final interview during the stage in Dublin
Calls started on Friday for some to invite them to the next stage, the interview with psychologist...

I'm also in the 'done the assessment day interview but no call' group. Do you think that everybody that was successful was notified on Friday or will there be more people notified today? Being left in limbo is a nightmare!

I'd hazard a guess and say that if you don't hear back today then it hasn't happened for us this time. I'm also in the done the assesment group too. Fingers crossed we get something today!

I'd say all were contacted Friday. my opinion would be that we will be kept in limbo as reserves for failed psychiatric or medicals. then the dreaded email will arrive

I think I'm beginning to get very optimistic here but do you think more calls will go out today? From the poll on the Facebook page it seems like there hasn't been all that many that have received the call for the psy interview yet!

Here's hoping!

Unfortunately not! I think this is the end of the road, hopefully not and there's another round of calls yet to be made! Who knows!

Finally got the PFO email today...for what it's worth, i've got an aero eng degree, five years experience in the industry, few flying lessons here and there and family connections in Ireland but obviously not got the aptitude this time. Oh well, there's alway next year.

Best of luck to everyone :).

First a set of usual questiosn for most interviews such as "Talk to me about a time you were X" then technical questions "How does Y works?" "What would you do if Z happened?"

I see that the 18 cadets have been selected. Congratulations, it’s well deserved.

Hopefully the the scheme will be run next year as well.

Hi folks, anyone have any news on if/when this scheme is likely to open again?

Hi mate, I believe it is currently set to start again in September but I am not sure if that is officlal as of yet.

They are currently making offers for extra places for people who didn't make the original eighteen places in november/january last year but did get to the final round of the process. People who didn't get one of those places were told to expect the 2019 program to start in September.

I made the holding pool but didn’t end up getting a place on a course and was told they were looking to open it up again in September.

That's great, thanks a lot for the info! I'll keep an eye on it then. Cheers!

Has anybody had any further communication past the application stage? Ie online tests etc? I was assuming there would be no update until after the deadline passes.

I would be interested in hearing about this. I emailed the recruitment and was informed that they do not release this information.

I can’t otherwise prepare for it to the best of my abilities. I hope the Maths part is not Fluid Dynamics etc.

Having experience of this could you tell me what sort of things are tested?

For info for anyone who hasn't completed the assessments yet. I doubt I performed well enough to warrant selection to the interview process so I'm happy to share what it was like so that those of you as desperate to achieve your career as me can get their best possible shot. I'm not fussed about how competitive it is, just want you folks to do the best you can:

Personality tests sort of are what they are. As the old cliche's go, answer them truthfully and honestly, if you try to cheat them you will get found out as there are a number of repeat questions that are essentially the same but worded differently. I just answered them instinctively, if they come back saying you don't have the correct personality to forge a career in this field then it is probably worth taking on-board.

If any of you have not prepared, I would recommend putting some last minute hours into PilotAptitudeTest or something similar as a lot of their testing software was similar to what came up in the assessments. They are tough but fair.

The numeracy tests are a very fair assessment if you have brushed up on your mental maths. I had admittedly not been up to speed due to my work commitments but two weeks of solid revision got me into a position to be able to answer them (I think/hope) to a reasonable standard. If you are up to speed with your quick mental maths then you should be fine.

The video interview questions were a tad surreal. Having focused my energy onto the psychometric and numeracy/maths elements in the past couple of weeks I probably was not as well versed as I should have been. However, have a rethink of a few points to elaborate on the questions are more than fair. (As a minor point, I went for an open collar Oxford shirt, not too formal, but enough to show I cared about appearance)

It's probably been said before but the best advice that can be given is to try and relax. The tests give you every opportunity to succeed.

I think my performance was a little bit short of the mark, but to all of you who get through, very best of luck as this seems like a world beating opportunity.

what sort of questions where involved? Particularly Maths?

It re-opened on the 26th June 2019. Today at 4pm is the deadline but the page is still open so there is still time I would imagine.
