Hi guys,
as far as I know, the maximum takeoff mass an aircraft has to be higher than for being classified as super-heavy (6/7/8 NM radar separation), is 560.000 kg and, so far, it only applies to the A380: does anyone know if it also applies for the B747-800 ? Is the new 748 a super-heavy ?

Though ain't that sure whether 560.000 Kg is strictly A380-specific or set as a threshold for the new wake turbulence category ...

747-800 MTOW = 442,000 kg

The only other one that would fit that description is the Antonov AN-225.

So does that mean we will have to start our RT by saying; " BlaBla 367 super heavy, decending out of 370 for 270" ????

yep, "super-heavy" shall be added to callsign, and must also be specified in the flt-pln as J wake turbulence category ...

No, just "Super" is attached, as per PANS-ATM 4.9.2 and Appendix 2 as stated in ICAO TEC/OPS/SEP (T11/72) – 06-0320.SLG (http://www.eurocontrol.int/safety/gallery/content/public/06-0320-EN%20-%20Wake%20Vortex%20Aspects%20of%20A380%20aircraft.pdf)

Hi Trent972,
you're right, it's Super: just wrote super-heavy as a simple confirmation to the previous statement (So does that mean ...).
Anyway I found a few discrepancies in between these radar separation minima ...

... and the ones indicated in here, ICAO document dated back to 2006:

Did ICAO subsequently tweak the original one (2006) ?
