On the thread "Capt. settles"
<a href="http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=017020" target="_blank">http://www.pprune.org/ubb/NonCGI/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=017020</a> comment is made about incorrectly interpreting the 900hr limit as airborne time. The implication of this is that pilots exceeded the legal 900hr., 12month limit on Block time.

I have always understood that knowing extending the FTL’s beyond the legal maximum invalidates the insurance cover of an airline. Is this correct and what are the implications?

An additional factor here was the method of calculation. i.e. a 12 month span in month increments or daily recalculation of the preceding 365 days, which can yield differing results.

I don't know if this was resolved before the dismissal case.

Anybody have an update on the IAA position?
