BA flight from LAX to London landed last night in LAS, electric smoke on flight deck. AC to leave tonight after inspection.

sounds like the crew reacted quickly to a potentially serious problem and put the craft down safely within 300 miles of departure airport ....... hopefully we can learn the reason for the problem and avoid a repetition on other aircraft ......

Same a/c that landed in LAS now had to land at JFK on it's way to London.

Why JFK? :confused: Last time I flew LAS to London, we didn't go anywhere near JFK. I think we flew over the bottom edge of James Bay, which is a good deal to the north-west!

If you'd seen the sig.weather charts for yesterday, then the positioning of the jetstream would probably explain why so far south compared to normal.
