BA smoke in cockpit

BA flight from LAX to London landed last night in LAS, electric smoke on flight deck. AC to leave tonight after inspection.

sounds like the crew reacted quickly to a potentially serious problem and put the craft down safely within 300 miles of departure airport ....... hopefully we can learn the reason for the problem and avoid a repetition on other aircraft ......

BA more electric problems

Same a/c that landed in LAS now had to land at JFK on it's way to London.

Question

Why JFK? Last time I flew LAS to London, we didn't go anywhere near JFK. I think we flew over the bottom edge of James Bay, which is a good deal to the north-west!

If you'd seen the sig.weather charts for yesterday, then the positioning of the jetstream would probably explain why so far south compared to normal.
