don't know if this has been mentioned either but they will offer daily flights from Inverness - Dublin starting in October
And as mentioned on Dublin and Southend threads, taking that route off of EIR's hands.
Good to see the sun routes continuing, I'm guessing this means they plan to keep some E195's or is this just until the rumoured 'larger aircraft' arrive?
The larger aircraft aren't arriving. Leg is talking out of his @sre again. The routes will be done on the 175.
They seem to show as being on the E195 for the winter season.
The annual report states that 3 195's will operate over the winter
Looks like too many people on this forum not know what they are talking about!!

Flybe weighs options for Exeter training academy and maintenance hub | Exeter Express and Echo
The above newspaper article mentions that the future of the airline's training academy and maintenance hub at Exeter will be made known later this year. There is some speculation that they might be sold off to a third party but that the operations would continue. The article also contained comments from Flybe's chief commercial officer suggesting that Exeter's winter sun routes will be not be restored as they have been at Southampton when he said: Although the planes are reasonably full to the sun destinations from Exeter, the prices people are paying aren’t big enough to sustain the operation, and that’s because our aircraft aren’t big enough. The issue we have is there’s a strong sun market out of Bristol, so if we put another £20 or £30 on the fare a lot of people would go up to Bristol. |
So, do they focus on regional routes using their smaller aircraft or do they invest in larger aircraft and fly sun routes............
What would Flybe do with a 150 seat aircraft in November when Malaga loses its appeal ?
What would Flybe do with a 150 seat aircraft in November when Malaga loses its appeal ? What's the full load range of a 195, can it do Canaries? |
Apparently they can albeit with a restricted payload. The E175 has a better range despite poorer engines. The E175 can do the canaries from Exeter I believe
Poorer engines give you better range do they?
Imminent announcement according to a flybe source of a new summer 2015 3 aircraft base at BOH split crews with SOU.
I think he means less powerful engines, as opposed to poorer ones. At least I hope so anyway. I wouldn't be too confident climbing on a plane with poor engines. The more welly you've got, the more fuel you burn.... usually. Personally, I'd love all aircraft to be overpowered, like the good ol' 757. Flying was more fun a few years ago. Not good in today's economy though.

Nakata77, nice of you to put sensitive information all over the public domain. Well done sir, well done :D

So, do they focus on regional routes using their smaller aircraft or do they invest in larger aircraft and fly sun routes Obviously you should "never say never" but it would really surprise me if the suddenly did a "U" turn and leased in 150 seaters. |
LSM don't be picky you know exactly what I meant as it's been discussed at great length in the past
With several E175s flying every day you would have to be some real dumb moron to worry yourself over my comment. If they were poor in that sense, those planes wouldn't be in the sky.
And yes, they may be lower rated but their range is better. There is no requirement to for a pay Load restriction |
