Interesting route in the Manx2 timetable! Should be fun in a Dornier. |
the manx2 new safety video is a larf. its on face book /flymanx2 . Is this just going on the L410s or on all the fleet? Ive only seen the widescreen TVs on the l410s:confused:
|
The big screen is on the L410 doing IOM BLK BHD for sure. I flew on it last week and a motorbike video was running.:O

Shame they didnt come up with it before Thomson had children featured in their safety video.....

I'm trying to work out what aircraft types are used on which routes in the UK, could anyone help?
As far as I can work out it goes as follows: Let 410 - BLK & BHD D228 - GLO, JER, LBA, NCL, BHD J31 - NCL & BHD Is this correct? |
D228 used on CWL-VLY as well :ok:
|
The LET has been used alot on the LBA route lately. I think the J31 has gone, and the Metro is used on BHD-ORK as far as I know.
|
For Belfast typically the L410 does IOM, GWY and BLK, the Metro does Cork, though on rare occasions this changes, or a dornier is used, for example the Metro did an Isle of Man flight yesterday, and ive seen a borrowed J31 in 2 or 3 times

The IOM-GLA flight has appeared again on the timetable. On the current online timetable the IOM-GLA flight is displayed between the IOM-BLK and IOM-GLO timetables and the GLA-IOM sector is displayed between the CWL-VLY and GLO-IOM timetables. Flight details displayed as follows:
NM468 IOM 08:15 GLA 09:00 _ _ 3 _ _ _ _ (19JAN11 only) NM469 IOM 17:30 GLA 18:15 _ _ 3 _ _ _ _ (19JAN11 only) I am guessing this is a charter flight since it is only operating on the 19th Jan. Manx2 don't normally publish details of charter flight on there timetable. Possible error??. If not could the flight be operating up to GLA to officially launch a new route??. Thanks in advance for any info. |
The IOM GLA numbers have been rubbish this year as pax have transferred onto EDI. Manxy2 have been cutting back any underperforming routes all year so I cant see them taking on a dog rite now.:hmm:
|
Anyone know when they are going self handling?
|
Looks as if Manx2 are gonna use a new handling agent that is setting up at IOM.
The company is called Rendezvous Handling Service and they will begin handling Manx2 from 07th March 2011. Manx2 customers who decide to use Rendezvous speedy park will be able to take advantage of a new kerbside check in facility at IOM. Full details on manx2 website. Link below Manx2 : Flights from the Isle of Man to Blackpool, Belfast, Leeds , Gloucester (M5), Jersey, East Midlands and Newcastle. The new handlinmg agent is park of a company called Platinum Holding Limited Platinum Holdings Limited - Ronaldsway Airport Isle of Man |

Are Manx2 the airline that is rumereed to be taking over the irish PSO flights when the government pull the grant aid to RE in July? Have head that the DUB-LDY-DUB route wil be a new operator
|
Manx2 and the Irish PSO routes
Most of the contracts for the PSO routes are up this summer. The first question for the Irish government is whether with improved road networks there is still a need for them. Secondly, the state of the Irish economy and the slashing of government spending might lead to a view that they cannot be afforded.
Assuming they are to continue, EU regulations mean they have to be put out to open tender and only then can Manx2 put in a bid. Rumour certainly is that the LDY - Dub route is the most vulnerable in terms of passenger numbers which have dropped considerably in recent times. That suggestes that the ATR42 is too big and an aircraft the size of the Manx2 fleet could be viable. It has also been rumoured that should there be no PSO subsidy, smaller planes might be viable anyway. Time will tell. |
When Loganair under contract to BA were operating LDY-DUB, the route was growing nicely. Good timings, a based frame at LDY and very, very few cancellations.
Then RE came along, messed around with the timings, and starting cancelling flights at will, and with no apparent reason. Manx2 could easily make the route work with proper timings, a reliable service (unlike the one currently provided by RE), and a proper advertising campaign. |
