Manxy2 will be pleased to see BE pull off the BRS . Let's hope they put some extras back onto GLO this winter or there will be a few less flights to handle at Ronaldsway after October.

Legal Beagle 25th October 2010 22:06

No sign of the IOM - CEG flights rumoured earlier in the year.

Got to be a market at CEG for someone. Not just IOM.

Any plans Manx2?

Johnny455 26th October 2010 11:21

Manx2 should operate CWL - ORK flights as Aer Lingus Regional has dropped the route. Theres enough pax for this route.

RooCat 26th October 2010 11:30

Could they even get away with a Swansea-Cork route? There were rumours of Manx2 connecting up existing british destinations with irish destinations earlier in the summer (Source: Airliner World August 2010)

planenut321 26th October 2010 11:57

I agree that ORK would be a great route for NM from CWL. But NM wouldn't do the route at the moment as their contract on the CWL-VLY runs out in December. It guess it totally depends on whether they win the 4 year contract from next year. The ideal route would be:

CWL-VLY-CWL-ORK-CWL-VLY-CWL-ORK.

mathers_wales_uk 26th October 2010 16:17

The main issue on routes is if Aer Arann/Aer Lingus Regional come back on the Cork for Summer 2011 which i believe they will then i don't think there is enough passengers to go around unless Manx2.com offer a more business friendly service 2 x Daily.

This cannot be done unless 2 x aircraft are based at Cardiff or an aircraft based at Cork.

Manx2.com will not make any commitments to Cardiff until they know the status of the bid for 4 year PSO contract has been revealed.

Providing Manx2.com are the successful candidate for the PSO route then i believe the following routes can be achieved with the single based unit at Cardiff.

CWL - VLY - CWL (Mo-Tu-We-Th-Fr)
CWL - IOM - CWL (Mo-We-Fr-Su)
CWL - GWY - CWL (Tu-Th-Sa)
CWL - VLY - CWL (Mo-Tu-We-Th-Fr)

I also believe that Manx2.com could continue to serve Anglesey by improving on this summers 1 month only flights.

IOM - VLY - IOM (Mo-We-Fr) All summer

ryan2000 26th October 2010 22:13

Are Manx 2 withdrawing from ORK GWY. Twice weekly service between 2 cities just 2.5 hrs apart by road.

rpmac 26th October 2010 22:20

Manx2

Would a LBA - Cardiff- Cork service work given that Cork and Cardiff have been served from Leeds in the past but not now?

Jamie2k9 26th October 2010 22:31

As Manx2 aircrafts are very small both Leeds/Bradford and Cardiff would do well as separate routes.

It looks like GWY-ORK is dropped from Nov 7

mathers_wales_uk 26th October 2010 22:38

Does Manx2 have an aircraft based at Cork?

With Aer Lingus Regional/Aer Arann having a larger brand in Ireland im sure it would be harder to win passengers over in Summer 2011 when they are likely to start back on the route.

Manx2 could be able to make 2 x based aircraft work at CWL which would be ideal for a CWL-ORK-CWL x 2 daily which would be ideal for business passengers for thir aircraft.

as for a CWL-LBA i'm not sure how many passengers would use the route.

Some routes which may work from CWL or VLY for Manx2 in addition to CWL-VLY-CWL (x 2 Daily)

CWL-GCI-CWL (Sa-Su)
CWL-IOM-CWL (Mo-We-Fr-Su)
CWL-GWY-CWL (Tu-Th-Sa)
CWL-BLK-CWL (Mo-Fr)

BFS-VLY-BFS (Mo-Tu-We-Th-Fr)
IOM-VLY-IOM (Mo-We-Fr)

Jamie2k9 26th October 2010 22:45

No based a/c in Cork and from November 7 they will be no based a/c in GWY as they are dropping ORK.

CWL-GWY-CWL (Tu-Th-Sa)
Aer Arann already tried it and it was short lived.

A €10 Airport Development Fee will be charged in GWY from November and that could be a factor for GWY-ORK being dropped.

mathers_wales_uk 26th October 2010 22:56

GWY-CWL-GWY was a popular service so unless their pricing was not worked our corectly they obviously wasn't getting enough yield.

Manx2 with a smaller aircraft and correct price would be easier to make work than the Aer Arann service.

Kavs8 17th November 2010 01:54

Manx2 supposed to be sniffing round Cork sometime next week, begs the question, 1) base being announced or 2) Cardiff service being reviewed.

MUFC_fan 17th November 2010 14:52

Manx2 open Blackpool Airport base : Blackpool Airport News Stories

mathers_wales_uk 17th November 2010 17:21

Manx2 in my opinion with their size of aircraft could be an ideal operator for the Cardiff - Cork service.

The loads on the 1 x Daily service previously operated by Aer Arran/ Aer Lingus Regional were decent allthough the timings were only suited for leasure travellers.

With each aircraft only having 19 seats i could see a Manx2 aircraft being based at either at Cardiff or Cork in the future that would be able to operated CWL-ORK up to 5 daily on a shuttle service especially as we climb out of the recession.

I know that there is an aircraft based at Cardiff at the moment with down time however it may only be able to operate.

CWL-VLY-CWL-ORK-CWL-VLY-CWL-ORK-CWL

This is dependant on if Manx2 which i hope are succesfull on the new four year contract.

WelshAirDragon 21st November 2010 23:02

If the Cardiff contract gets renewed hopefully Manx2 could increase the size of the base. It would be great to see Manx2 add other routes to the Anglessey service they currently offer. They should consider London City, Leeds, Guernsey, IOM and Cork. There is alot of potential there for them to unlock!

Drakestream 22nd November 2010 01:41

There isn't a hope in hell of CWL getting an LCY service at all. Not from Manx2 or any other carrier. The cost of operating into City coupled with competition from the railways and slot availability means that it's just a total no go. Manx2 don't even operate an aircraft capable of getting into City at the moment. It's a great shame because I used the Air Wales service several times, but it just wasn't profitable. Likewise, Air Southwest couldn't make City work from Plymouth. It's a shame, but it's just the way it is.

All of the other routes you mention would probably work very well on a 19 seater though. Interesting times ahead for both Cardiff and Manx2, I'm sure.

Drakestream summarises the London City situation well. Look at the LCY fees here. Imagine you are flying a 19-seater. You'll want to arrive at a premium time to compete with the train, so you'll pay £900 of landing fees. Then there's a charge per departing passenger... but that's set for a minimum of 37 passengers per flight (to discourage irritating little aircraft like yours), so you'll be paying another £739+£198 for the departure. Result: your 19-seater arriving and departing in LCY has to pay £1837, or - if we assume a healthy 15 passengers each way - about £60 per passenger in LCY airport fees alone, assuming a consistently excellent load factor (only 10 passengers per flight and your taxes and charges would go up to £90/passenger). And that's before you've paid for handling, let alone put fuel in your aircraft, paid your pilots (if you're conventional enough to do that ;) ) etc.

LCY + small aircraft = delusional.
