It all depends on whether or not it will return. They said phase 2 would be released in a few weeks when phase 1 was released so more routes should be any time now.

hiljimbo 4th April 2010 21:54

Thanks, lets hope we get something positive shortly. I see that we are not alone and BHX and EMA are also awaiting phase two.

According to Wales Online approx 6 months ago. Depending on the figures for 2010 out fo CWL then we are expected for up to 50 jobs created at CWL by Flybe. This would suggest a Flybe base.

Before the recession Flybe wanted to operate some German and French routes which could only provide business friendly flight times with a base at CWL
Think maybe you're getting 'base' mixed up with a night-stopping aeroplane that uses local crews....

Last time I spoke to contacts within their management, there was no interest in establishing a formed 'base' at Cwl with resident management, staff pilots and cabin crew, engineering cover etc. ; however a nightstopping aeroplane was a possibility.

I do know what the difference is between a base and a night stopping aircraft.

However i doubt that one night stopping aircraft would lead to up to 50 jobs as stated in the article.

If there were to be an overnight aircraft or two then surely there would need some kind of engineering cover required to perform daily checks even if it was to use current engineers based at CWL.

There maybe an aircraft and crew based at CWL but regional manager would be in control of station as present rather than having one dedicated station manager.

Thomson Airways

Hi Everyone,

Am just wondering if anyone knows what type of plane will be used for the Antalya flights in the summer with Thomson Airways..?

Chris

Highland's replacement

Anyone heard who might replace Highland Airways on the North-South flights? Tender closes today.

Highland's replacement

Sorry, I don't mean to sound sarcastic/patronising...but haven't you answered your own question? If the tender closes today then surely still no-one will know who the winner is yet as the choice has yet to be made.

In terms of who is in the running, as rumoured previously here (and elsewhere) it is believed that contenders may include Loganair (SF340), Eastern Airways (BAe J41), Blue Islands (BAe J31/ATR42??), Manx2 (EQUIP??)

Rhoose station - airport bus to go

The shuttle bus service running between Cardiff airport and the Rhoose (Cardiff International Airport) railway station is to be axed at the end of next month. :ugh:

WalesOnline - CardiffOnline - Cardiff news - Airport shuttle bus to be brought to a halt

Rhoose Cardiff International Airport Station

The station name doesn't seem very appropriate any more and could mislead passengers if they get a train to the station thinking that they will arrive at the airport!

mustrum_ridcully 9th April 2010 14:42

If I hadn't read the article I'd probably turn-up at rhoose station and wonder where the shuttle bus is.

Good opportunity for Vale of Glam. taxi drivers to earn a few bob when the train arrives...

I doubt Manx 2 will be involved as they are only a ticket agent in real terms.
They don't have an AOC as I can remember as the aircraft are all leased from various back street garages. :)

Turkuaz Airlines

Turkuaz Airlines are going to operating charters for goldtrail holidays this summer. Anyone know what they are like?

Also heard some talk of the CWL-VLY starting up again soon. Anyone have any info?

G-OFLY 25th April 2010 14:57

I heard that domestic Swedish airline 'Direktflyg' were taking it over operating on a J32.

Daffydil 26th April 2010 09:53

North-South airlink

My understanding is that the bids are still being evaluated. The Ikea-lookalike airline won't be gracing the tarmac at CWL anytime soon.
