No it matters not a jot what it`s called.
What matters is getting carriers, passenger and/or cargo through the door!

SG Investigation

Anyone with ears to the ground heard who has been put in to do the due diligence for the SG, given that we are getting near the half-way point of the six-week period being allowed for it?

Flypuppy 1st November 2013 16:39

The Scottish Government is using its own resources for the DD work.

Re SG Investigation

So, do we get a properly evaluated commercial decision, or is it going to be down to a political fudge?

I had hoped they would bring in external financial, business, and aviation analysts, who could take a neutral and objective stance. With it being an SG internal analysis, is there a pre-determined outcome, which figures have to be made to fit?

PIK does have a future, the question is whether the loss-making bits can be cut out without affecting the viability of the rest.

The Scottish Government is working with an outside agency and also a panel of avaition experts from a cross range of industries on this. Extensive plans on changing the operational model are under discussion in tandem with the DD work.

Sunsetrep,

I would be keen to keep up to date with progress so I am presuming that given these are SG moves the progress updates will be in the public domain? Any idea where these can be accessed?

Who is the most likely contender to manage Prestwick Airport on behalf of the Scottish Government. Someone suggested Manchester Airport Group but they have ruled out getting involved.

davidjohnson6 11th November 2013 14:04

HIAL perhaps ? If Dundee falls within their remit, then who's to argue against Prestwick... ?
Maybe HIAL could also be renamed as the "Scottish Airports Authority" ? :8

james170969 13th November 2013 20:49

It looks like we shall find out a bit more next week as according to the Scotsman the sale is to go through next week with Infratil selling the airport to the Scottish Government for £1

Infratil to sell prestwick airport to scottich government for 1 pound deal to be competed by 20th november

The main runway at PIK is changing its designation today from 31/13 to 30/12 due to magnetic variation. Look out for the paint trucks at either end of the runway changing the numbers.

BBC News - Flybe outlines base closures as part of job cuts plan

A shame for INV and ABZ, however you would think that PIK could use this to their advantage and offer a cut price deal for FlyBe to switch from GLA.

Interesting to see WestJet starting YYZ-YYT-DUB with a B73W. Go get em PIK!

That has got to be one of the daftest things I've read on PPruNe for months!

Try finding out what FlyBe's business model is, then explain how a move to PIK would be sensible / viable.

ScotsSLF 18th November 2013 12:23

Got to agree with ATNotts - ludicrous comment which I hope was made 'tongue in cheek'. As regards the Westjet news to DUB that's an interesting development which needs more investigation.

Totally agree, pax are going to fly from bhx to PIK then get a bus to GLA to connect with their flight to the highland and islands with the Louie code share? Ain't going to happen.

kpiko3 22nd November 2013 08:44

Christ, it was only a suggestion! :)

canberra97 22nd November 2013 14:16

A stupid suggestion at that!

The Hypnoboon 23rd November 2013 10:36

Well, that's it official. Prestwick is now in public ownership.
