Hi all

Have not posted for a while, working comittments and all but I am pleased to hear about the increase in charter flights.

However, I also read that Ryanair are due to annouce DSA as their next new base of operations, great news for DSA and yet I feel saddness for HUY as to what could of been, imagine HUY attracting the likes of Ryanair.

While I know charters are good news for HUY I think its time to increase the scheduled routes from the current routes of AMS & ABZ.

I live in hope

Island Cruises operating cruise flights to Marseilles, Messina and Split next summer.

AndyHUY 2nd September 2005 17:49

Are these cruise flights one-offs or regular?

7006 fan 2nd September 2005 19:50

Circseam.

Never thought I would end up saying this on a HUY thread, but I doubt your hopes will be granted. KLM appear to be back to using F50's on a more than 'every so often' occasion during the past month or so, and Eastern are down one flight a day for August.
Methinks HUY are concentrating on 'bucket and spade' and leaving the business traveller//long haul journeyman to pay megabucks for AMS or grit the teeth to the big smoke down south or M62 to MAN.
(Maybe that is the game plan as HUY is owned by MAN -who knows)

Haven't seen those at HUY, yet more good news for the Airport!!

:ok:

airhumberside 2nd September 2005 19:53

The way I read the Scunthorpe Telegraph article is that passengers will fly to Palma and that Marseilles, Split etc will be destinations on the cruise itinary, though Palma to Split would be a long cruise

Are KLM still upgrading 2 flights to Fokker 100 this winter?

7006 fan 3rd September 2005 06:25

Anyone know what HUY are up to this Winter. Can't find anything, no-one at the Airport I know has seen a Winter timetable, maybe with the Excel flights they have forgotten about Winter!?!

airhumberside 3rd September 2005 20:07

I think this winter is largely the same as last. Hopefully FUE and Paphos can continue next winter

Airport Press Release 7/9/05

Following its recent announcement of a brand new programme of flights from Humberside Airport, leading charter airline Excel Airways is already expanding its number of services from the Airport, ahead of the Summer 2006 season.

Excel has committed a second aircraft to the airport for the entire Summer season, increasing their number of weekly departures from 9 to 19. In addition to adding more services to some of the most popular routes previously announced, Excel has now also introduced flights to Gran Canaria, as well as services to the entirely new destinations of Fuerteventura, Zakynthos and Corfu.

This new series of flights will carry close to 65,000 passengers in its first summer operating season, and will offer passengers an even wider range of great value holidays and flights to some of the most popular sun and beach holiday destinations.

Rob Goldsmith, Managing Director of Humberside Airport, commented: "We were delighted when Excel decided to launch their first ever programme of flights from Humberside Airport. As we continued to develop the programme, we saw that there was potential for Excel to introduce an even bigger and better service. This announcement is great news for passengers from the region as there is now more choice than ever before from their local airport, both in terms of the destinations and the range of holiday and flight only offers available.

"This is a fantastic addition to the new Programme for Summer 2006 and it follows other recent announcements of new routes and increased capacity for the Summer 2006 season, making it one of our most diverse and exciting programmes to date. We are always looking to develop the services that we offer and we are confident that we will continue to build on these recent successes."

Martin Lock, Marketing and e-commerce Director for Excel Airways, commented: "We are pleased to have been able to strengthen our commitment to Humberside Airport by introducing more flights and destinations to our programme for Summer 2006. Passengers travelling from their local airport will be able to take advantage of an even wider range of great deals on flights and holidays with everything from luxury packages to low fare seat only options available, all with the same high quality service from Excel. We are confident that the new additions to the programme will prove to be extremely popular and we hope to develop the services that we offer from Humberside Airport in the future."

Passengers from Humberside Airport will be able to travel to a range of 13 destinations with Excel Airways, with both holiday and flight only offers available. The destinations are Alicante, Corfu, Dalaman, Faro, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Malaga, Palma, Paphos, Rhodes, Tenerife and Zakynthos.

I thaught the second based machine was only from July?

19 weekly departures is great! How many other operators will there be? Is it still at 38 in total including XL?

Keep 'em coming HUY!

Charters, Charters, Charters.........Where's the scheduled flights!

aeulad 8th September 2005 11:53

They are working on it! The sun market is now part catered for by the new flights, however the market for low cost flights is now kind of saturated. Long term stable scheduled routes such as Paris, Dublin and Belfast are on HUY's hit list and the team that have gotten us this fantastic new programme for Summer 2006 are working flat out to increase the scheduled portfolio.

Mike

AndyHUY 8th September 2005 17:19

There must be more to come from XL too! In the news article it says that two machines are to be based for the whole summer season!

How many rotations would each a/c do in a day? Is it two?

I am waiting for some news about scheduled now! Cant be long!

Incidentally have you seen the prices return to AMS? If you book early they can be as low as 70 quid! Not bad at all!

aeulad 8th September 2005 17:31

There is nothing more from Excel unfortunately, although several gaps still exist in the HUY IT programme such as Malta, Varna and Sharm el Sheikh.

There will be one fully based 737-400 and one tue-fri based 737-800. The most rotations to be done in one day is the 737-400 on Saturdays, doing Palma, Alicante and Las Palmas.

Depends on the length of the flights....probably two if Greek/Turkish destinations are served, three if Ibiza, Palma etc. are the destinations involved.

aeulad 8th September 2005 17:34

Sorry, the 734 will only do ONE ACE roatation on Thursdays, not 2.

Whatever happenned to Kos?

Do Excel need to learn about fleet utillisation or is this case of delays (so they can be caught up)

7006 fan 12th September 2005 17:44

Anyone see the Spitfire at HUY this weekend, saw it on the runway this morning, wound down the window to listen to that wonderful Merlin V12! There was also an American bomber parked up, looked like a Marauder but not sure, too far away to see it clearly.

AndyHUY 13th September 2005 10:49

Any particular reason why these vintage a/c visited HUY? The only time i have ever seen a vintage a/c at HUY (Apart from the airshows) Was the DC-3 from BBMF!

Apparently expecting news announcement on the scheduled front this week!

Anyone betting on it being the planned F100 upgrade on the AMS flight?
