Indeed, the level of UK geographical knowledge among much of the UK population is lamentable. However, probably more of a handicap than calling the airport Doncaster is referring to it a "Robin Hood Airport". In the minds of most people the Lincoln Green clothed outlaw came front Sherwood Forest which people generally associate with Nottingham. I wonder how many people booked from Robin Hood expecting to fly from EMA!!

Indeed, a slow industry trend has been for the ULCCs, who initially built up running from and to oddball underused airports, rising to a peak about 12 years ago, to move back to more mainstream points, as those mainstream airports marketing teams got more adept at making offerings, and the carriers themselves understood better the relationship between any extra costs and extra revenue/yield from serving places people were more familiar with. Peel must be very aware of this, as their whole airport inventory is made up of such places.

Possibly. Though with Wizz doing a roaring trade as you say and no expansion at LTN, those flights will need to go somewhere. I don't think it will be LTN, although Lincs is where many migrant workers are employed and is probably closer to LTN in geography than it first appears. EMA or HUY would be the next logical candidates but claim no knowledge here.
