Lufthansa and Belfast might appear in the same sentence. I don't think it belongs on this particular thread though....

cuthere 9th Nov 2022 21:41

Like the much mooted QR and EM routes over the last few years, any potential mainline/legacy airline will take one look at BFS and decide that DUB is a better option….unless you have a fleet of E75s or E95s, and there is a different option where demonstrable success is apparent.

If LH are doing a route to NI, it’ll be BHD using a E95.

You could be right. If KLM can make AMS work, which is mostly connecting passengers, then no reason why Lufthansa can't make FRA work for the same purpose. While BHD might seem logical, BFS could be attractive in that there are no legacy network carriers there. It would likely be Cityline territory. Lets wait and see.

Alteagod 10th Nov 2022 18:21

Had heard that BHD making an important route announcement soon. I wonder if it is LH or additional EZY destinations

BFS BHD 11th Nov 2022 17:40

Anyone got the ACL Slot Report for BFS? Like the one posted on the BHD thread.

True Blue 11th Nov 2022 17:43

Yes I have just been looking at it.

BFS BHD 11th Nov 2022 17:44

Is it available to the public? Or can you not share? :)

True Blue 11th Nov 2022 17:55

It is available to download free

Interesting to see Eastern Airways there! Hope it happens!

Lets hope BUD, PMI, VLC & WMI all get put on sale soon by Ryanair. :)

True Blue 11th Nov 2022 19:25

Why has Eastern applied for slots in Bfs? Is it because they face EI Regional and Flybe on Bhd-Sou and think operating from Bfs might be a more attractive option?

Positive as ever - not launching before Summer 2024, so plenty of time to assess the position.

happydolphins 22nd Nov 2022 22:31

Still think United will be back with NEO/MAX. IIRC, the 757 was profitable, but more profitable elsewhere...

allnamestaken1 23rd Nov 2022 09:05

That's correct, the problem with the United was the month of January load factor was very low it sometimes took till March for the loads to recover to the 80% load factor for the route to break even, basically the problems with the United service was the months of Jan/Feb loads were somewhat low and took maybe till Mar/Apr to recover to the levels that they wanted so they deployed the aircraft to Dublin to make more money only for that we probably would still have it at Belfast.

True Blue 23rd Nov 2022 10:19

On the Eastern website Bfs - Sou is on sale.

LGS6753 23rd Nov 2022 12:35

From Travelmole:New airline Fly Atlantic plans to launch transatlantic flights at Belfast International Airport.

The startup wants to fly to the US and Canada, as well as short haul European destinations from summer 2024.

It still has to gain a licence and secure aircraft.

It plans to generate 1,000 jobs over the first five years.

Fly Atlantic aims to make Belfast a new hub linking Europe with North America.

It would initially operate six aircraft under current plans.

Chief executive Andrew Pyne said: “The lack of direct transatlantic air services has clearly been an impediment to Northern Ireland.”

“We already have offices at the airport and will now be building out the infrastructure.”

This route would have a chance of working only if operated by EZY and provide strong competition for BHD!

easyJet

EasyJet expands at BFS with 8th aircraft

EasyJet expands Belfast International Airport base with direct route to Rhodes and 40 new jobs announced - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk

allnamestaken1 29th Nov 2022 10:07

I wouldn't call it expantion, they have axed one route to introduce another route that is already served from Bfs.

GAZMO 29th Nov 2022 10:11

So what other routes will the 8th aircraft be doing?......Domestic?

allnamestaken1 29th Nov 2022 11:08

More or less yes and bucket and spade flights.

True Blue 29th Nov 2022 11:18

Which route has been dropped?

GAZMO 29th Nov 2022 12:32

Menorca I believe is dropped

Ryanair - Summer 2023

FOUR New Routes on sale for Summer 2023 for Ryanair:
  1. Budapest
  2. Cardiff
  3. Palma
  4. Valencia

GAZMO 19th Dec 2022 11:21

From BT this morning

Ryanair announces four new routes for Belfast International Airport next summer - BelfastTelegraph.co.uk

Budapest 2 X weekly (both operated by Ryanair Sun)
Palma 2 X weekly
Cardiff 2 X weekly
Valencia 1 X weekly

With 64 weekly return flights plus 4 operated by non based aircraft are two based aircraft enough?

BFS BHD 19th Dec 2022 16:49

Yes two based aircraft seem to fit the current timetable.

Also looks like Budapest will operate in the winter (2023/24) too.
Appears to be half loaded into the system.
Outbound flights from BFS on a Monday are showing but inbound flights aren't loaded.
No Thursday loaded.

BFS BHD 20th Dec 2022 17:47

Ryanair hints more flights and routes with the new deal they signed with BFS. Not able to view the whole article.

EasyJet Switzerland - March 2023

3rd flight added on Saturdays in March 2023 to Geneva operated by EasyJet Switzerland.

Wow is that all that Easyjet has to offer Belfast this year, not a bit of wonder the airport and it's owner are turning to Ryanair for extra business.

BFS BHD 12th Jan 2023 14:45

Looks like the new Southampton route with Eastern Airways will now start 6th April instead of next month.
