GCELE will go at some stage too but no confirmed dates as of yet

GCELX is due to perform its last flight on the 4th Nov and will start the retirement process on the 5th.

GCELV will retire shortly after this on the 7th/8th November

GCELO will retire around the 22nd November.

EDI is confirmed all B738 base by mid December and NCL will be also all B738 by end of April. This will only leave EMA, BFS and LBA with the 300’s for summer 2019.

As always in aviation nothing is 100% confirmed until it actually happens however this is the plan at the minute.

Thanks for the info, out of interest what happens in the retirement process? Also, where is QLA? Kemble?

Mooncrest 7th Oct 2018 17:12

QLA is Lasham. However, Jet2's retirees usually end up at Kemble, Gloucestershire. All rotable (reusable) parts are removed from the aircraft and returned to Jet2's spares inventory. This includes engines, landing gear, seats, galley and instruments. What is left, i.e. the airframe is essentially scrap metal and is rendered as such, to live again as baked beans tins and similar.

MKY661 7th Oct 2018 17:57

Most recent 737's end up being scrapped at Lasham.

Gurnard 8th Oct 2018 07:45

Can you give examples? I thought it was more likely Kemble or St. Athan.

Sorry I meant St. Athan, had Lasham in my head for some reason, my apologies.

Jet2's latest new B737-800 G-JZBP, currently on it's delivery flight to the UK, I assume that it is heading for LBA.

Plane.Silly 11th Oct 2018 07:31

W19/20 city routes now on sale,

Few small increases, and as far as i can see, only 2 new routes, GLAKRK and BHXBUD

castleford tiger 13th Oct 2018 12:07

Apparently no-one, whats your source?
Just seems strange given the fleet is all Boeing (minus leased A321/A330's)

I'd have thought that they'd be more interested in getting a deal for end of the line A321s. Similar to what they did with Boeing.

FFHKG 15th Oct 2018 07:50

Did Primera not have a big order for A321's which Airbus will be looking for an alternative customer for, presumably at some discount?

Not many A321neos. Boeing MAX yes but i doubt either manufacturer would need to discount them to sell them.

Propellerhead 21st Oct 2018 08:25

Can I ask which airports currently have Jet2 757s based there please? LBA and MAN I believe, but NCL and EDI as well?
Thanks.

SWBKCB 21st Oct 2018 08:42

Not at NCL - all 737's.

inOban 21st Oct 2018 09:35

Not EDI, possibly Glasgow, AFAIK.

awwdabaaby 21st Oct 2018 09:46

Glasgow is ALL 738, they did have 757s the first few years of the Glasgow base, I think the 757s are based at LBA and MAN only, the 757s will only visit GLA, NCL etc to operate the EWR flights

Id be surprised if they’d needed to offer the golden hello

if true, there will be a load of Primera crews who’ll jump at the chance

Wouldn’t read too much into that. I believe Airbus and Bombardier have had guided tours in the past.

Lsflyer1 21st Oct 2018 16:43

Does anyone know the schedule of the a330 aircraft based at man next year and where they will be coming from. Playing around with a fee routes on jet2s website shows 3 morning departures so assuming that means 3 A330s.

Johnny F@rt Pants 22nd Oct 2018 15:24

I don’t know the routes, however there will be 2 from Air Tanker and one from A N Other source.

Are these 3 going to be based at Manchester only? Nothing A330 wise planned for Stansted next year?

OltonPete 22nd Oct 2018 19:11

A332

Jet2 website certainly shows 3 morning departures next summer as the A330 - PMI, ALC and Faro on a Sunday. One GDS site shows Faro as the 752 but I would believe Jet2 over that.

no, nothing planned.

On the other hand, the A321neoLR would be the perfect aircraft to replace the 757's both on the short-haul routes for capacity and the Christmas shopper flights to Newark. If it wasn't for the latter, I would agree that end of the line ceo's would fit the bill nicely.

I'm a big fan of the 757, but I accept they're not getting any younger, so it will be interesting to see what Jet2 decide to replace them with in the future (be it sooner or later).

Observe the post directly above yours, which is it to be?

Scottie Dog 24th Oct 2018 16:06

Canberra - I believe the post you are referring to was in connection to the 3 A330s to be based in Manchester and not Stansted.

Johnny F@rt Pants 25th Oct 2018 03:22

Correct Scottie Dog, that post was referring to the 3 that are to be based at Manchester.

there are no A330’s for STN for summer 2019.

nwoody2001 25th Oct 2018 19:03

Anyone know the news to be announced soon that Jet2 are tweeting about on their twitter???

daz211 25th Oct 2018 19:46

I would guess, even if a bit early, possible the annual festive Advent Calendar.

RAFAT 26th Oct 2018 00:34

My guess is that it won't be of any interest at all to any of us on PPRuNe. Probably more Marketing/Advertising crap!

HH6702 26th Oct 2018 02:29

Guessing new routes or a take over of another airline or partnership

LiamNCL 26th Oct 2018 05:11

That Newcastle is finally allowed to use the new aircraft :E

Hello everyone,

I'm working for Ryanair and thinking to move to Jet2. I have been offered to move to Palma de Mallorca with a Spanish contract. Does anyone know a pilot working for Jet2 based in Spain?

sixchannel 29th Oct 2018 15:51

New bases in BRS and CWL??

See 'Rumours and News' section for more info.
Apparently job vacancies on some Pilot website.
Anyone know more?

I'm not sure as to the validity on this. If there were any truth to it, the flights would have been on sale ages ago. Looking at when they opened BHX and STN, they were opened in July and September 2016 for a March 2017 launch.
If BRS/CWL were to start in 2019 Q1, they would already have been on sale for a good 2-4 months
