Not quite sure how to interpret this. Does it mean Ryanair is closing all routes from Belfast ? The Ryanair website seems to show tickets on sale for some routes into 2020

I'd imagine that they would operate the routes with non based aircraft

What are Ryanair doing without the 737Max-200s that were about to enter service?

They had 2 a month coming so really makes little difference to fleet size, some of the older aircraft that were planned for disposal will be held a bit longer, some culling of unprofitable routes, utilise the fleet a bit more during summer and get to September and not an issue until summer season 2020 starts next year. May mop up some spare aircraft from leases co's.

No doubt a discussion with Boeing on penalties for delivery failure and future orders and Mr Boeing will be wondering whether that 20% discount of list may really be 50% after the negotiations.

Seljuk22 23rd Apr 2019 16:47

..close/minimize some unprofitable bases e.g. BFS, HHN, NRN etc. and blame Boeing for it.

Boeing Q1's are out this week. They will make interesting reading.

I think Hahn is much further away, or do you mean how FR now treat PIK?

Or perhaps,

As Glasgow is to Edinburgh, so Hahn is to Frankfurt...

From Blue Swan Daily:

Ryanair aims to more than double the number of services to Jordan, following the successful launches of services to the country in 2018 (Reuters, 29-Apr-2019). Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary commented: “We could double the number of routes to 40 routes connecting other cities in Germany, Poland, Italy, Greece and others to Jordan”. The carrier currently operates 14 routes to Jordan, with an additional four new routes launching in winter 2018/2019.

Loss of €180 million in half year to March 30th v €300 million Easyjet loss.

Think there will be lots more Airline casualties.

As forecast Boeing have come to an agreement with Ryanair on late Max deliveries. This involved current debt been written off with a big number being involved.

Ryanair to set up Malta Air

Ryanair will be setting up a Maltese subsidiary. It will be taking over the present 61 routes from the island and plans are to increase the based aircraft from 6 to 10.
Some aircraft are to be registered in Malta and a maintenance facility is being set up.

Perhaps Air Malta should set up a subsidiary to compete and call it Air Ryan.

I’m sure O’Leary would have something to say about the name.

How original.

davidjohnson6 9th Jun 2019 10:14

From the article, it sounds like Ryanair has made a significant concession to the Maltese Govt by giving them a golden share. It's not clear from the article what the Maltese Govt has given to Ryanair in return...
