Maybe the fuel man is about to pull the plug.. Asking for State Aid is highly unusual and sounds like every other avenue has been closed. I can't see the Government assisting or even being allowed to assist though

So all anyone who's struggling has to do is just ask for a government bailout? I'll have the car finance paid off by the morning, cheers for the tip!

Breaking news now on Sky say a blame game has erupted and has put them on the verge of giving up. Options on the table such as breaking the airlines off and letting the tour operator fail has been rejected for being too complex.

very sorry for all that work there.

Im not suggesting a government bail out is good or bad i’m merely pointing out that Thomas Cook have now approached the government for aid and suggesting that this possibility mooted by Doc Q may come to pass given what’s at stake

Smells of desperation :(. Can't see them being given any more than what they need to keep going until the CAA are ready.

Not very long since the government last got stung for being nice to travel companies in a competitive market...

I may be wrong but i’ve not seen anything to suggest the government won’t step in to assist
Bear in mind this isn’t monarch or jet 2 it’s a British institution that's been in business for over a century and a half .

Report in the Sun about aircraft from the Middle East being earmarked as they are currently spare due to their normal routes being suspended out of certain countries. I'm guessing that means Qatar Airways

Big Tudor 20th Sep 2019 21:24

Given the level of subsidy that privatised UK Rail operators receive from HM Government (£5billion per year) it is somewhat perturbing that they are unable/unwilling to offer similar support to UK aviation operators.

They could well assist i’m guessing they will despite the doomsayers predications

Is a leisure/holiday company critical to the UK infrastructure?

The British government don't buy institutions, they sell them.

Arguably they have done it twice with the East Coast Mainline TOC.

Someone wrote this on Flybe issues earlier in the year...

Cannot see the government letting flybe fail TBH , To much hinges on them, If someone like easy jet fails to step in i can see government funds being provided to get them through this blip
Doc Q replied

Blip???,Goverment aid ?, What planet are you on ??
Are you trolling? Serious question?

Really hope it’s harmless and meaningless, but according to another forum, all the TCX aircraft in BHX have been moved to remotes.

Also hearing MT1107 JSI-LGW is stuck in Skiathos as the refuellers are refusing to service the aircraft.

Great. Heard this before.

Landofice 20th Sep 2019 21:59

MT1106 diverted to CFU.
