Great to see Vueling making a go at CWL....year round is good news for Wales & especially the airport. Lets hope for even more of an increase in 2014.

Hope there is more news to come & more routes too

Letsflycwl 24th May 2013 18:19

It's just said on the news that flights diverted into CWL ex LHR this morning.......anyone know from where ? Airline & aircraft ??

Aer Lingus Regional have released their Winter flights for sale now. CWL showing DUB as 3x daily on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, similar to the schedule that is to be operated from the 1st July ! Excellent news for CWL that this cornerstone service is to further expand. Hasnt this month been a good one ;)

WOWBOY 30th May 2013 09:29

Hope cardiff sees a recovery soon. I used to travel all the way from plymouth to fly cardiff to glasgow with bmibaby when they were relatively new because it was cheaper then bristol. Lovely airport and was shocked to see how reduced its scheduled routes were recently.

I'm sure cardiff will grow, as vuelings year round Annocuemnet will come as a confident boost as will aer lingus going 3xdaily. :)

AirGuru 30th May 2013 09:38

Thanks Wowboy, well the recovery is well and truly on course this year. 2013 has always been said as the 'year' for CWL, so lets hope it lives upto expectations. Don't forget also there are more TOM flights this Summer in the peak season, and the TCX A321 rather than A320. The Vueling presence is certainly helping, and Aer Lingus going 3x daily on M, Th, Fr, and Sat from the beginning of June. There are also a few increases on TOM flights for the winter, so by the end of the year, CWL should be in some sort of growth.

mathers_wales_uk 30th May 2013 11:24

The Aer Lingus schedule shows an increase of one flights and seat capacity from between 200 & 240 seats per week in each direction as the afternoon and evening rotations have been upgraded to a ATR-72 (68-72 Seats).

Of course with all the good news for Summer 2013 and now Winter 2013 it is a case of getting more bums on seats so airlines will have more faith in Cardiff as we move forward.

2013 has always been said as the 'year' for CWL
Since when Benjie?

Please might you direct us to such publications where it has ALWAYS been said that 2013 would be the year for CWL?

Thanks awfully.

mathers_wales_uk 30th May 2013 13:17

I have never seen any publication to suggest that 2013 will be Cardiff Airport's year. However it has been suggested by many that 2013 will be the year where fortunes of Cardiff Airport might change.

Of course this has never been publicly stated by the airport however capacity has increased and it's now down to people to put bums on those seats.

Cardiff Airports
Cardiff Airports Mathers?

Aware of EGFC and EGFF, are there any more we should know about?

Why don't you admit it that "Juvenile Jamie" (latest username "AirGuru") is merely spouting his usual nonsense?

mathers_wales_uk 30th May 2013 14:18

I apologise Phileas for my slight grammatical error which has now been rectified.

What appears to have happened is that Air Guru has simply quoted what has been discussed beyond the realms of Pprune however incorrectly. I knew exactly what Air Guru meant by his post as I have seen the other discussion.

My teenage daughter has more mature conversations than you get on this thread.:ugh:

Letsflycwl 30th May 2013 18:08

Fingers crossed there will be more news pretty soon. Great to see an increase with EI too.:D

Glad to see things are on the up at long last....lets get some more route news soon.

What's Winter 2013-2014 looking like ?? Some ski flights be good, GVA, SZG & INN.....shame they can't get EZY to do a "W" pattern with BRS aircraft.

nsherrin15 1st Jun 2013 16:51

I agree, either get EZY or RYR in.

mathers_wales_uk 1st Jun 2013 20:02

Ryanair maybe good for passenger numbers but as for passenger experience then not so good.

Of course we have Vueling offering year round services to Alicante & Malaga and I don't think this is the last we have seen from them either.

Believe you me the airport are doing their best to attract some more winter flights from Cardiff and this is supported by their efforts to increase Dublin, Vueling year round and a 17% increase in capacity by Thomson.

Of course a return of some winter sports destinations will be great and no doubt will return eventually maybe not this year but possibly next.

VickersVicount 1st Jun 2013 22:00

I just wonder how Vueling will do from CWL. 180 seats are a lot to fill on these routes. We'll see what happens next year...

nsherrin15 2nd Jun 2013 10:44

First A320 with sharklets has arrived in from BCN this morning (Vueling: EC-LVV):)

Letsflycwl 2nd Jun 2013 12:22

Vueling have taken up a majority of the BMI baby routes to Spain, exception being MJV & MAH, be good if they could be tempted with TFS, ACE or LPA too.

Totally agree, CWL need to stick & work with Vueling but be good for some more destinations from other low cost carriers that do not compete with Vueling......PRG was always a popular BMI baby destination

nsherrin15 2nd Jun 2013 12:47

Vueling have have such a cramped schedule I doubt they would
be able to fit in a TFS, LPA or ACE. I agree with one of the above comments if EZY started doing 'W' patterns with BRS it would be very beneficial

Letsflycwl 2nd Jun 2013 12:59

Seems bizarre that EZY don't do that, I suppose BRS would gave something to say about it & most probably a clause in their contract but a weekly BRS-GVA-CWL-GVA-BRS would be great in the quieter winter months.

Hopefully some increase in long haul would be good, as I said before Air Canada Rouge would be well suited, Canada has been served & well used for years ex CWL
