Dubai: Etihad Airways said on Monday it has received regulatory approval for its codeshare deal with Irish carrier Aer Lingus to offer codeshare flights via Irish capital, Dublin, to the US.
The approval from the United States (US) Department of Transportation enables Etihad Airways to put its ‘EY’ flight code on Aer Lingus’ transatlantic services out of Dublin, Ireland, the Abu Dhabi-based carrier said in a statement. As a part of the deal, effective Monday (April 8, 2013) Etihad Airways, which holds a 2.987 per cent equity stake in Aer Lingus, said, it will offer 10 weekly codeshare flights via Dublin to Boston, eight to Chicago, 12 to New York. The US regulatory approval follows last July’s announcement of an interline and codeshare agreement between the two national carriers. |
Avion Express will be replacing most of the remaining Thomas Cook flights for the summer. Reus, Tenerife, Faro, Gran Canaria, Ibiza and Lanzarote. Albastar will operate Palma.
Air Dolomiti will also operate flights to Verona. Etihad Airways and Aer Lingus codeshare gets nod | GulfNews.com “The question, however, is for how long? Ireland has been debating the application from Emirates for sixth freedom flights (ie, Emirates flights that go Dubai-Dublin-NYC) for some time. To date, it has refused them but this would seem to indicate that it will now be forced to concede them.”... |
If they were granted wonder would they pick DUB over MXP? It would be the sixth or seventh daily flight to JFK depending on time of year.

Who are Jetstar Airways???
|
Came through Dublin Terminal 1 on Friday 12 April. 70 minutes to get through security, which is one of my worst around the world for a long, long time. Three separate queueing areas to pass through sequentially, the first being a 20-minute queue to even get up to the entrance barriers. Several pax probably missed flights.
Plenty of investment in new entrance barriers, large number of security stations, miles of tensa barriers, etc. Shame nothing then left from the budget to man the security stations, more than 50% of which were unstaffed. Although one does wonder if all the extra personnel deployed to marshal all this queueing were used to staff these security stations instead, the queueing would be way reduced. |
Who are Jetstar Airways??? |
I think it should be ALBASTAR
|
I see Emirates were unable to land today because of wind, attempted twice before heading for MAN.
|
Not enough sand in the wind? I assume once they landed at MAN passengers were put on Aer Lingus and Ryanair flights which have been landing in DUB?
|
The Emirates 777 flew back to Dublin from MAN later in the afternoon and has since departed for DXB.
|
Company policy - is it two or three attempts?
|
Think its three but the second one was very low and there was no chance of it getting in.
|
It seems to be a bad evening for DUB, a couple of FR and EI flights are holding over DUB for the wind (54kt gusts at the moment) or diverting to BFS and SNN. Some ORK-bound flights are diverting to SNN as well for the same reason.
|
Aer Lingus and Lufthansa have diverted into MAN.
MAN, SNN, BFS and NOC won't accept anymore EI so EDI, GLA, LPL and BHX are now taking them. Gusts of 55knts. |
EI's MAD-DUB and TLS-DUB are just landing in Glasgow, another Aer Lingus (CTA-DUB) is diverting to EDI...
